Okay, we’re up to week number nine, the last of the single digits in this tour and just two weeks away from the end! This one has flown by.
I found something a little different for this week, so let’s go and find out what it is.
And today is the first day of April, April Foos Day! I think we need to hear from the four fools that inspired this rib-eating tour that goes to eleven weeks, oh fellows…
You’re a naughty one, Saucy Jack…
Thanks, fellows! And now…
Here we are at Saffron Social. We came here for a Saturday night dinner last November shortly after it opened and now we’re here in the daytime for the ninth week of our rib eating tour.
As we step inside the restaurant we’re greeted with a nice lit-up sign and a floor mat with the restaurant’s logo on it. Nice!
As we enter the dining room, I think I see this week’s rib guest star of the week…
It’s my friend Mike! We last had lunch with Mike about a year ago at Hearth when we were doing our grilled cheese tour.
I can’t believe it’s been a year since our last lunch! As I mentioned in that post, Mike’s a teacher, a doctor and a lover of live music. He has an amazing online archival library of shows and you can check that out right here. And if you’re on Bluesky, follow Mike right here.
Nice to see Mike and I thank him for taking the time to have lunch with me!
We checked out the menu and our pretty and friendly server, Angel took our order and posed for a photo while flashing a beautiful smile!
We started our lunch with an appetizer order of fried deviled eggs. These were a downright decadent treat and so tasty!
The egg is deep fried and covered in a panko breadcrumb crust and topped with spicy mustard and bacon bits. These took deviled eggs to an amazing level and it was a wonderful start to our lunch.
While the main courses were being prepared, I abandoned Michael to take some photos of the restaurant because that’s what I do!
Here’s a shot of the dining room and the comfortable booths that line the walls in here.
The bar is very impressive and it’s located in the back of the restaurant.
Here’s a shot of the nice selection of beers on tap behind the bar.
There’s a nice dining area with tables and chairs directly opposite the bar.
Meanwhile, back at our booth…
Our lunch is served!
We both got sandwiches and you may be wondering where the ribs are located in this luncheon. Well, keep scrolling down and you’ll find out!
Mike got the Mahi Reuben which is blackened mahi topped with their homemade 1000 Island dressing and served up in toasted marble rye bread. Mike said it was very tasty and delicious.
There he is digging into the sandwich with superb gusto!
We were both impressed with the steak fries that come with the sandwiches as a side dish. Usually steak fries are thick potato wedges, but these were crispy and thin and both Mike and I really enjoyed them!
And now onto this week’s rib entree: A House Short Ribs Sandwich.
This is a sandwich that is filled with short rib meat that has been reduced for over eight hours. It’s topped with melted gouda cheese and caramelized onions and it’s housed in toasted sourdough bread.
It looks absolutely fabulous, let’s dig in and try it out!
Well this was a delicious and uniquely satisfying sandwich!
The rib meat was tender, savory and succulent!
The melted gouda cheese was rich and complimented the tasty rib meat perfectly. The caramelized onions added another flavor level and the sourdough bread was the perfect bread to house this tasty rib sandwich in!
What a delicious treat!
This was a tasty and unique sandwich and I’ll give it a nice rating of 10.2!
And I’m not fooling with is rating on April Fool’s Day!
Thanks to Angel and everyone at Saffron Social for the friendly hospitality and delicious lunch and thanks to Mike for joining me for this week’s rib entree!
