This week is National Library Week and my friend, Chip Joyce just happens to be the Marketing and Outreach Specialist for The Brimfield Public Library.
I didn’t know Brimfield had a public library and Chip invited me to stop out and take a look around in honor of this being National LIbrary Week.
He also said they support local authors and that they’d love to add my book, “The Boy Who Would Be A Fire Truck” to their local author collection and I told him I’d be thrilled to make that happen!
So let’s go check out the library and get my book added to the collection in The Brimfield Public Library!
Here we are at The Brimfield Public Library. If you live in Peoria, it’s a quick twenty minute drive to get here and check this place out.
This is quite an historic library which originally opened in 1927. The building expanded in 2003 to the current size it is today.
As I went to go inside I saw a nice welcome sign for my visit. What a nice and very cool surprise!
Wow, it’s very big in here and an impressive looking library!
I love the mural painted just below the ceiling and I found out it was painted in 2003 by local artist, Victoria Lynn Claudin.
I stopped at the front desk and they gave me directions to Chip’s office.
Here we are at the office of Chip Joyce, Marketing and Outreach Specialist.
Let’s see what he’s working on in here.
Well, it appears that Chip gets paid to read this blog! Hey, shouldn’t I be getting a royalty from his paycheck?
Always great to see Chip and now we’ll let the tour of The Brimfield Public Library begin!
This room is called the Maker Space room and it has computers, printers, scanners and other tools that can assist in projects and fun activities for kids and adults alike.
There are other meeting and study rooms available and you can read about them by clicking on this link.
Of course, this is a library, so the main focus is on books and as you can see, this library is loaded with books and reading materials.
If you have a Peoria library card, it works here and if you don’t, they can set you up with one at the front desk in minutes!
Check out the cart in the last photo, they even have free books here for permanent possession! Nice!
In addition to books and reading materials, The Brimfield Public Library has a lot of things happening at this location including classes, concerts, craft nights, free movie screenings and popcorn, group discussions and more.
They have an interesting historical collection of items and photos in these display cases.
The library has a lot of technology happening and it’s equipped with state-of-the-art computer stations, copiers, wi-fi, virtual reality and 3d printing.
They have a large and fun Kid’s Room here at the library with activity stations, books, crayons and coloring books.
This is a large and impressive room in the back of the library called The Activity Room.
The library holds events back here and it’s also available for rental for a small fee. You can read more about it right here.
Here I am presenting my book, “The Boy Who Would Be A Fire Truck” to Chip to be part of The Brimfield Public Library’s book collection!
I’m next to Sally Field, Betty White and one book away from Robin Williams! What an honor!
Thanks to Chip for this tour and a fun afternoon at The Brimfield Public Library!
