It’s hard to believe, but a week from next Tuesday on April 15, marks the 24th anniversary of the death of Joey Ramone.
I was lucky enough to meet him and the other Ramones in 1993 at a book signing for Jim Bessman’s book, Ramones: An American Band. A few years later I would interview Marky Ramone for the first glossy issue of fishwrap.
I’ve been a Ramones fan since 1976 when their first album came out. I was a senior in high school and from the second the needle hit the vinyl, I was hooked! So I’m thrilled that I made a tiny Ramones connection while they were all still alive.
In honor of this dark anniversary, there are seven links to online articles about Joey Ramone and there’s also a link to a Joey Ramone interview from the Conan O’Brien Show.
And below that is the MBIP Coming Attractions for what’s coming up on the blog next week!

MBIP COMING ATTRACTIONS
Monday: Last night I went and had a wonderful cheeseburger dinner at the River City Grill. I’ve had lunch there a couple times, but they now have a full bar and a gaming room, so it’s a whole new atmosphere in there!
Tuesday: I met my friend Adam Duvall for the tenth week of our rib-eating tour and we sampled ribs from the Smo-King Pit in the Northwoods Mall. Tune in to see the photos and what kind of rating their ribs got!
Wednesday: My friend Chip Joyce is the Marketing and Outreach Specialist for the Brimfield Library. This week is the annual National Library Week, so Chip volunteered to give us a tour of the Brimfield Library which is somewhat of a hidden gem of a library that everyone should check out, pun fully intended!
Thursday: We’ll be taking a look at another MBIP Magazine of the Week this Thursday, so I need to get to a magazine stand!
Friday: Friday will be having some snacks for our Friday Snack Attack post.
