This year when I was compiling my “Twelve Shops of Christmas” post, one of the stops was at Moxie’s Resale Boutique. It was there that owner Mollee Wood told me about a Christmas tradition I had never heard about: Ugly Christmas sweaters. It turns out that this is a big deal with a lot of people and Mollee even invited me to her annual Misfit Merry Christmas/Ugly Sweater Party. Luckily I purchased an ugly Christmas sweater at Moxie’s, so I’m putting that on tonight and then we’ll head out on this Christmas evening to this festive and fun party!
I'm going to be having more than a couple beers tonight, so I'm taking a taxi to the party. I usually use Elite Taxi, but no one answered there, so I figured they were taking the night off. I'm using another service and they were 45 minutes late, so they get no free plug. I hate to be a Grinch, but I also hate to be late!
Here we are at AmVets Post 64, I love this building!
If you've never had lunch here, you should check it out, really delicious food. Okay, let's get inside, I'm freezing my balls off out here!
Those of you who read this blog daily are all too familiar with this hallway. Let's go down and let the party begin!
And here we are in the main bar room in the basement, love the colorful lights on the ceiling in here! The party appears to be going on over there to the right, let's go check it out.
Here's the pretty hostess of the party, Mollee Wood!
Time for a beer! We met Mele back when we came here for a tenderloin. She's certainly looking festive tonight, love that smile!
Here's Mollee with Roger. I met Roger back when I went to Richards On Main, he was just starting his shift then and was too busy to pose for a picture, but he let me snap away tonight!
Mele's on the other side of the bar now with Ray who came in a Grinch T-shirt and a red Christmas cap.
Check out the sweater on Kelli, that's a great one!
Here's Jules looking great in her Santa hat, we met Jules back when we had a pizza party at the Peoria Historical Society.
Shelley and Joe came up to me and told me they're fans of the blog and bought me a beer, which was very nice of them! Joe is the Commander of AmVets Post 64 and said he'd sponsor me to be an "Associate" of the Post, so stay tuned for that. I told Joe he looked to young to be a veteran and it turns out he served four years in the Marines and did two tours of duty in Iraq. So cheers and thanks to Joe for that kind of service! It was great to meet both he and Shelley.
Suddenly...snacks!
Mollee helped me corral everybody for one big whomping, stomping group shot.
Then Mollee took the MBIP camera and got a shot of me in my ugly Christmas sweater that I got at Moxie's. We all agreed that it's the balls that make this sweater so special!
Next, everyone gathered around a large present.
The paper is torn off...
The tension mounts as everyone wonders what the hell is in here...
Oh my! It's some sort of a horse/unicorn head and Ray has put it on.
Is it me, or is this just a little disturbing?
Okay, guaranteed nightmares for a week!
Merry Christmas and thanks to Mollee and everyone who came for a fun and festive party! We'll definitely do it again next year! We'll see you all tomorrow!
