Before I begin this post, let me explain the time frame of this blog. It’s usually done on a two day lag. Saturday’s Cheeseburger post goes up on Monday, Sunday Suds goes up on Tuesday and on and on through the week it goes. Sometimes something goes wrong and I have to do it more in “live” time, but having this two day gap helps give time me put everything together for my daily posts. It also allows me one day (Friday) where I can take the day off and plan the next week. The reason I’m explaining this is that on Tuesday we had a snowstorm and got hit by about a half a foot of snow. That’s when I did today’s post. I had planned on doing a shop hop on a place in East Peoria and...well, you’ll see what happens as we now join that post, already in progress...
It snowed through the night and it’s still snowing now. We’re supposed to get four to six inches when all is said and done. I’m still getting used to driving and I hate driving in the ice and snow, but I’ve got a post to do, so I better clear off my car and get going. One positive thing is that if I get in a wreck and get killed, I’ll probably get a ton of hits and decent publicity for MBIP!
It’s a winter wonderland out here. Okay, the car’s all cleaned off, let’s see how the streets are.
The temperature’s warm enough that most of the snow is melting as it’s hitting the road, but it is slick in some spots.
Yikes, the car fishtailed twice so far in our travels and I’m not going to do the post I was originally going to do. The place I was going to is in East Peoria and I’m still a little weird about driving on the interstate so I’m abandoning that idea and we’ll do it next week. Sometimes when you’re doing a daily blog you have to improvise and that’s what we’re going to do today. I have something I just thought of to do and it’s a little safer destination.
Okay, I have to quit fucking around taking pictures while driving in this glop, I just about slammed into the guy in front of me taking this shot of my rear view mirror.
I wanted to get the other rear view mirror...okay, time to put the camera away before I total my car.
And here’s today’s destination, my local grocery store, The Shop ‘n Save. We’ve been here before.
Is it me, or are these weird hours for a grocery store? We better hurry, it’s closing in on noon!
It’s pretty empty in here, guess everybody stocked up last night.
Check out the Kitchen Cooked display, I emailed them over a week ago requesting a tour of their potato chip factory in Farmington, Illinois. I’m kind of pissed at these people, I’ve given them lots of publicity on this blog, all positive too, and I’ve yet to hear back from them. I’m going to email them again and see if I can finally get some sort of word on a tour of their place.
Pizza, pizza, pizza, pizza...this is one big-ass frozen pizza section. But I don’t need to browse, I know what I want...
I’m going with the Super Supreme, we better hurry to the checkout lane, it’s almost noon and at 12:01PM everyone in this store turns into a pumpkin.
Here’s another Kitchen Cooked display, I better hear from them soon or I’ll go all Avanti’s on their ass!
Okay, we’re on the road again and it’s still a bit slippery out here.
Condensation!
For some reason I’ve become obsessed with taking rear view mirror shots. I have to put this camera away and get home, I’m really dying to cook up that Butch’s pizza!
And here are at home, safe, warm and somewhat sound. Let’s get cooking!
It’s on my official pizza cooking pan...
And it’s into the oven we go...
Fifteen minutes later, it’s just about ready to eat. One little trick I do is to broil it for about a minute at the end to really get it crispy and golden brown and even just a tad bit burnt. That’s the way I like it.
You know some days you just need to go get a frozen Butch’s pizza...
Eat it and then just shut the fuck up.
This is one of those days. Sneeze you all tomorrow.
