Two years ago I hit the “publish” button on the very first post for this new blog I created called, “Meanwhile, Back In Peoria...” and as always a flock of butterflies were set off in my stomach. This is the fifth blog I’ve created and every time you wonder if you’ll have anyone looking at it and if you do, can you hold the audience and grow it and of course you wonder if you’ll be able to still pull it off after the first couple of months after the initial excitement dies down.
Well, I’m happy to report that two years later MBIP has a large audience and I truly appreciate each and every one of you out their on these here interwebs that tune in here every day! Thanks you so much for doing that! I’ve met so many cool people and made so many new friends and I feel extremely grateful for that.
I also want to give a shoutout and a big thank you to the MBIP Weekend Contributors, they allow me a little breathing room and add different voices and flavors to the blog on the weekends.
Okay, enough talk there’s a cake to pick up and then it’s time to put this party in motion!
I ordered a specialty cake from MBIP pals, The Chef and The Baker. I was last here when I had a great lunch with my cousins Danny and Patty.
Here we are and I think I see some familiar faces behind that counter that's filled with cupcakes and goodies...
It's Karen (The Baker) and Ian (The Chef) with their son Gabriel in the middle. Great to see them again!
Above the counter is something new that wasn't here the last time I had lunch in here, a chalk mural drawn by Peoria artist Devin McGlone who we met last week at the Peoria Brewing Company. Very cool!
Here's Karen unveiling the MBIP cake, wow, it looks fantastic! Specialty cakes aren't something that The Chef and Baker do all the time and I thank them for the extra effort in baking this wonderful looking cake for tonight's party.
Here we are at Mike’s Tavern. And now we’ll let the party begin. Just like last year, these photos have no captions and are not in perfect order...because I’m not in perfect order myself this morning after the party! And awaaay we go!
As I said up above, there's too many photos to caption today, but I do want to take a second to thank Jim Waller and the good people at Brewer's Distributing for making this cool MBIP anniversary sign for the party! Cheers and thanks to all of you!
Thanks to everyone who showed up and thanks again to The Chef and The Baker for making such a delicious cake, it was the hit of the party and everyone loved it! And of course, thanks again to all of you who read MBIP, I appreciate it more than you could know. We’ll see you all tomorrow as we start year number three!
