I haven’t been to Friendly Valley Tap since last August, time flies when you’re having nuns! I have the night off of work and it’s officially Christmas season, so let’s go have a little holiday celebration over at the Friendly Valley Tap! Ho, ho, ho, let’s go!
Here we are at The Friendly Valley Tap, a classic Peoria bar and the only Quonset Hut tavern in town!
Let's go inside and see what's happening at The Valley!
I love it in here because it's one of Peoria's darkest bars and it never changes in here. I always feel like I've entered a time warp when I walk in here and that's a good thing!
Truby, who's a veteran bartender here serves up the first beer of the evening with a nice smile. She told me she wanted to introduce me to some guys at the end of the bar, so let's go meet them...
Right here is three generations of Friendly Valley Tap! From left to right is Jeremy, Bill and Joe. Joe has been the owner of Friendly Valley (along with his wife) since 1970, Bill in the center is Joe's son and Jeremy to the left is Bill's son. Tonight is Jeremy's 27th birthday, so happy birthday to Jeremy and it was a pleasure to meet the three generations of The Friendly Valley Tap!
Somebody else has wandered down to the end of the bar...
It's Skully, a Friendly Valley regular who's posing with birthday boy Jeremy here.
Here's Skully's legendary boner beer koozie at the bar and check it out, the beer koozie is not the only thing with a boner, the twenty dollar beer on the bar looks kind of excited too!
Everyone gets their own beer koozie for the evening here at Friendly Valley, here's mine and the snowman theme is perfect for this holiday outing!
Your standard tartan plaid koozie is hugging this can of Bud Light.
Here's Jeremy showing his grandpa Joe a post at MBIP on a past visit to Friendly Valley Tap on his phone.
A legendary Peoria street sign hangs behind the bar.
It's kind of close quarters here in Friendly Valley, so their tree has to be on the miniature side, but it's still festive all the same!
The pool table opposite the bar is always a hub of action here at Friendly Valley.
These guys are chalked up and ready for some pool playing. That's Matt on the right and Steve on the left.
Here's a longshot of the wooden bar. If only this bar could talk it could tell tales of me being in here in the '70's and '80's that I really wouldn't want to hear, so thankfully the bar remains a mute point!
A dart board stands against the wall in the back of the bar.
Here's a shot from the back of the bar via the dart board's point of view.
Meanwhile back at the bar, Truby is taking care of business and...
MBIP pal Amber shows up looking pretty as always, flashing a great smile and her holiday beer koozie!
Happy Holidays from all of us at The Friendly Valley Tap!
I thought we'd end this post with an obligatory holiday bathroom mirror shot, but there's no mirror back here, oh well, sometimes you just have to wing it! We'll see you all tomorrow...and hey, let's be careful out there!
