So the other day I was looking around on facecrack and came upon a question from Double A’s asking people to predict who will be this year’s Super Bowl winners, so naturally I left a smart-ass reply, you can see the exchange below:
Being the hilarious fellow that I am, my guess was for the Cubs to win the Super Bowl. Okay, kind of silly, but it did win me free boneless chicken wings! You know, I’ve never had boneless chicken wings, the concept kind of disturbs me for some reason. But hey, if they’re free, count me in, let’s go try them out!
We're off and running on Interstate 74 at an illegal 60 MPH! Breakin' the law!
Here we are at Double A's and it's about five degrees below zero, let's get inside pronto and warm up!
It's Trivia Night tonight!
Let's go inside and see what's going on in here.
Uh, oh...double exclamation point alert!
Erin's the pretty hostess for the evening and she said we could just go ahead and sit at the bar. And so that is exactly what we shall do!
Wow, I thought it would be dead in here since it's the night before New Year's Eve, but it's a full house. This is one popular Trivia Night spot!
The bar is pretty full too, but I spy a seat in the middle, let's go snag it!
We're all settled in and here's Ross with an ice-cold bottle of Budweiser to start the evening off. I placed my order for the boneless wings and the night is off and running!
Here's a shot of the back of the bar and Ross pouring a beer from the taps, which of course leads us to...
A shot of the aforementioned taps. They have half a dozen selections available here.
Obligatory bar mirror shot!
Josh is the host of the Trivia contest tonight. I was thrown off when I first saw him, because I'm used to seeing him behind the bar!
I ran into Vicki who we last saw at Joe's Bar in Pioneer Park back in the days of our chili dog contest and ironically back then she was telling me about different trivia contests around town. It was great to see her and catch up with her!
Here's Raigan who told me she's a faithful reader of MBIP, which I always love to hear. After chatting with Raigan, I found out we have a friend in common, Mollee from Moxie's ReSale Boutique! And of course this now needs to be cued up!
Talk about a blast from your past, this is Trivia Team Southey! I've been friends with this family from way back when, all that's missing is Tim and Kay!
Here's Kate, who owns Double A's along with her husband Aaron. She said they had a great year and that's wonderful to hear! Cheers to both of them and their family for a wonderful 2015.
A shot of the bar and the many widescreen TV's with sports matches around the world.
And here's some of the specials that go on when the football games are being broadcast in here.
Meanwhile back at the bar the free boneless chicken wings are served up by Ross.
I got a mixed order, over on the left are the hot wings and on the right are spicy teriyaki wings. Let's dig in!
Uh, oh, Gumby's arrived on the scene and is hijacking a celery stick, painting a portrait that just screams, "It ain't easy being green."
The boneless wings are plump, tender and juicy. And the hot wings really pack a spicy punch! What I like is that you can eat them with a fork and avoid the messiness that usually comes with eating chicken wings. Really delicious wings here!
I invited MBIP pal and contributor Bob Gordon, but he couldn't make it, but his wife Danielle was in the neighborhood and she stopped by for a visit with myself and Gumby. Great to see her again and she has the distinction of being the last guest star on MBIP for 2014! Thanks to Danielle for stopping by and to everyone at Double A's for the tasty chicken wings and great hospitality! We'll see you all tomorrow!
