I’m in a cheesy kind of mood and that can only mean one thing—time to go to Castle’s Patio Inn for a couple beers and a crock of cheese. To the MBIP Mobile!
Off we go, into the wild black yonder of night
Here we are at Castle’s Patio Inn. The bar has been here on this corner for decades and it always looks inviting.
So let’s go in and let this evening of beer and cheese begin!
It’s getting near closing time, so there’s plenty of seats at the bar. Let’s pick one and get settled in for the night.
And here’s Lacey serving up an ice-cold Budweiser with a killer smile! Lacey’s worked here for over two years, but this is the first time we’ve met and it was great to meet yet another Castle’s Inn employee! Speaking of Castle’s Inn employees, where the hell is Alex?
Speak of the devil and he appears. And Lacey is right behind him with the legendary Castle’s Inn cheese. Just what the doctor didn’t order, but fuck the doctor, tonight I’m eating some cheese, goddammit! To hell with my cholesterol! I’ll snort some Crestor in the morning and all will be well.
This is the best cheese in the world and tonight I thought I'd do something special with it.
I thought that rather than just eat it one cracker at a time, I'd create a piece of cheesy art for all of you to enjoy. And here I go, can you guess what it is I'm building here with the cheese and crackers?
I'm building my own personal, Leaning Tower Of Cheeza!
It's pretty impressive if I do say so myself, and I just did, so there!
Whoops-a-doozy, I went a little too far and the tower has fallen, time to fix that...
Okay, now we're back on track and I think this piece of art is done. Ladies and gentlemen, I present you with...The Leaning Tower of Cheeza!
The best thing about this art is that it's edible and delicious!
Here's the three taps at the bar and two of them show that this is indeed a St. Louis Cardinals bar.
The nightly food specials are displayed here on this board featuring a giant bottle of Budweiser.
And here's Kevin, back in the kitchen, who skillfully prepares all of those specials back here.
Oh, deer!
The the mark of a classic Peoria bar: A spinning Budweiser trolley hanging from the ceiling!
There's the dining area and the front wall which is loaded with signs and various memorabilia.
A Heileman's Special Export globe hangs beneath a St. Louis Cardinals baseball bat here in the middle of the wall.
Here's some photos of the Patio Inn from days gone by. Memories...
I love this stained glass, Old Style lamp that hangs over this table.
A Busch beer lamp hangs over the corner table illuminating it as...
Spuds MacKenzie looks down from his spot on the wall and smiles approvingly at the proceedings.
I told you this is a Cardinals bar and here's the conference table with Chuck Castle, being the local Field Manager. You'd think that would say, "Patio Manager," but hey, it's his bar and his sign! So, whatever will be, will be. The future's not ours to see, Que Sera, Sera.
If your really, really want to get crocked, Castle's Patio Inn is the place for you...
See? Smile and say, "Cheese!"
Meanwhile, back at the bar...
Alex, Lacey and Kevin are chilling out at the end of the bar as closing time is near.
The cheese is gone and it's about time to call it a night.
And we leave you with this Paul McCartney moment of Zen. Goodnight everybody and we'll see you all tomorrow. And hey...let's be careful out there!
