I love Jim’s Steak House, it’s one of my favorite Peoria places. I especially like the bar, it’s dark and real old school. It reminds me of a classic New York bar. And it just so happens that that is tonight’s destination, so off we go!
MBIP's most regular and prettiest featured player, Amber is behind the wheel and driving tonight as we head towards downtown Peoria.
Check out the parallel parking skills on Amber! She did this in like five seconds. Nice job and perfect tilt of the front left wheel.
There it is, the destination for the evening, Jim's Steak House.
Obligatory elevator mirror shot!
This is the front foyer of the restaurant which has comfortable chairs and a leather couch. Funny, I've never seen anyone sitting in here though.
Here's the side dining room and the bar is straight ahead. Let's make tracks and get settled in for the evening!
We met bartender Karen way back when this blog was in its infancy and it was great to see her again. Here she is serving me up an ice-cold bottle of Budweiser...
Here's Amber with her draft beer looking pretty as all get out. It's always a blast hanging out with Amber!
We'll leave the beers at the bar and go take a look around in Jim's.
Here's the beers on tap and yes, that's an Amber Bock tap over there, so for those of you playing the MBIP Amber drinking game, you can have drink number three today! Cheers!
An old man and his pipe hangs on the wall over here. He kind of creeps me out and looks like Santa's evil sailor twin, so let's just keep moving along.
This is the main dining room and they've got a full house in here. Good to see business booming at Jim's!
The jazz duo Three and a Half Men were making jazzy music at the piano bar. That's Jason to the left and Paul over on the right.
Bob and Dottie were seated at the piano bar and after talking for a bit, it turns out that Bob lived in the same apartment complex as my brother Jim and I and we used to have some high old times back in the day! Okay, time to cue this up!
Here's the distinguished and friendly owner of Jim's Steak House, Tim Comfort to the right and his son, Nick to the left. Great to see both of them!
Lots of celebrities have eaten here at Jim's though the years and it's always fun to look at the autographed pictures on the wall. Here's my old pal Eddie Van Halen. This is my second time taking his picture!
Here's hometown hero Dan Fogelberg with a nice autographed photo to Jim's.
I always have to get a shot of this Warren Zevon photo from 1994.
Here's a fuzzy-wuzzy shot of the Coal Miner's Daughter herself, Loretta Lynn.
Meanwhile, back at the bar...
Karen is making up the table and dinner is about to be served!
First up was a great salad, except next time I think I'll tell them to hold the peas between their knees, please!
Amber and I split the Ribeye steak and as good as this looks, it was twenty times better.
If you like steak, you need to go and have this Ribeye at Jim's Steak House, that's all I'm saying!
I really loved the steak, but I have to confess this twice-baked potato kind of stole the show for me. There's melted cheese and chives on top. And I have to confess, when I ordered it, I called it a half-baked potato, which I kind of like that name better!
This was such a great meal and fun evening! Thanks to Karen and Tim at Jim's and to Amber for driving and being such great company for the evening! We'll see you all tomorrow!
