It’s been over a year since we had a visit to PAWS: Peoria County Animal Protection Services, so I’d say we’re overdue to a visit. We’ll correct that right now...to the MBIP Mobile!
Here we are at PAWS, let’s park the MBIP Mobile and make tracks to the office.
My keen directional skills tell me that the office is right up here, let’s see if I’m correct...
Ha! I was right, here we are, let’s go inside and see what’s going on in here.
There’s a whole bulletin board of lost cats and dogs here in the outer foyer. If you’ve found a stray animal, this would be a good place to start trying to find the owner.
Granite City is hosting a Dining for Dogs day for the Peoria Humane Society, which works hand in paw with PAWS. For more information on this event, just click here: Dining For Dogs.
Here’s the front office. Becky is going to be giving us our tour today, but she’s on the phone, so we’ll just wait till she’s ready for us.
The new Pawprint 2016 calendars are here. These are a good way to help support Paws and we all be needing a new calendar soon. Yikes...where the hell did 2015 go?
And here’s Becky! The 2015 MBIP Paws Tour officially starts now!
First stop: The Colony Cat Room!
And true to its name, there’s a colony of cats in here!
This little guy’s relaxing and thinking, “I wish this human with the annoying camera would get the hell out of here!”
All the cats here are really friendly and would make a great pet for someone.
This month is Senior Pet Month and the adoption fee is waived for animals six years and older.
Most people think that PAWS is just limited to stray cats and dogs, but Becky told me they have animals here at various times ranging from ferrets to frogs to lizards to Finches.
Here’s a bunny rabbit in this cage.
The tour continues down this hallway...
To where the dogs are housed. This guy looks like a scrappy brother of Spuds MacKenzie!
Here’s four more dogs that would love for you to take them home!
Becky told me there’s more cats here than dogs...
And here’s Becky leading us into another room filled with kitty cats.
The cages are stacked up like little cat condominiums.
Will someone please adopt these two? They’re too cute to be cooped up in this cage!
These cats all look like they’re doing time in jail! Stop by and bail them out if you can. I know how they feel! It’s no fun being behind bars!
And this fellow really needs a home! He’s easy to care for, all you need to do is feed him a steady diet of Budweiser, cheeseburgers and pizza and he’ll be fine. He’s even house-trained...somewhat.
The MBIP World Headquarters is too small for another animal in it, but I bought a calendar to help support the cause. We’ll see you all tomorrow!

Bonus Photos From The Peoria Veterans Day Parade And Ceremony!
Yesterday was Veterans Day and every year Peoria has a Veterans Day Parade. I can never go because it’s in the morning and I’m always working on this blog at that time. But my friend Amber went and she took some photos for us and here they are below! Thanks Amber and welcome to the official MBIP Roving Reporter Team!
The parade marched down Main Street.
The guest speaker was Vietnam veteran, Thomas Maher.
Here, Rep. Darin LaHood is awarding the Purple Heart to Retired Army Master Sergeant Jack Harlan.
This is Chuck and Diane, Amber’s parents. Chuck is a Vietnam war veteran and was a Grand Marshall at the parade yesterday. Very cool!
Cheers and a happy (belated) Veterans Day to Chuck and all the veterans out there. Thanks for your generous patriotic service for this country!
