Live, from New York, It’s Saturday Night Cheeseburger starring this week’s host, Cerberus Burger Bar with special guest stars, Brittney, Don, Emily, Eli and Victor! And now please welcome this week’s host, Cerberus Burger Bar!
I abandoned the name, Saturday Night Cheeseburger a while ago here on MBIP after I had pretty much ran out of places to get a cheeseburger at and started calling my Monday posts, “Saturday Night” instead. Well, I've reverted the name back to Saturday Night Cheeseburger this week because a new burger bar has recently opened up in the spot that used to house Mango. I’m sad that Mango closed, but let’s check out Cerberus Burger Bar and get a cheeseburger on this chilly Saturday night.
Here’s a fuzzy shot of the front doors and yes, I’m hating the MBIP camera as we enter Cerberus Burger Bar. HATE the MBIP camera! HATE HATE HATE it...but at least I remembered to put the memory card in it tonight!
It hasn’t changed a whole lot since it was Mango, and that’s a good thing, I always liked the atmosphere in here. Let’s go through that familiar brick archway to...
The bar! It’s late and it’s getting close to closing time, so there’s plenty of seats available. Let’s grab one and get settled in for the evening!
Brittney, the pretty and friendly bartender for the evening is serving up the first beer of the evening! We’re off to a wonderful start!
It was so great to see Don come over to the bar! Don was the owner of Mango and I thought someone else had taken over since it changed names and menu and Don explained that he’s still running the place along with Beatrice and that they just changed up the menu after being closed for a few months. At the end of Mango’s run, they introduced a line of specialty burgers and they’ve expanded on that idea and changed the place into Cerberus Burger Bar. The menu consists mainly of specialty burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches all named after Beasts and Gods from Greek mythology. I love this idea and it was great to see Don again, glad he’s still running the show here!
After some discussion and recommendations from Brittney, I ordered tonight's cheeseburger dinner. She’s placing the order now, which will give us some time to take a little tour around Cerberus Burger Bar.
I really like the Greek influenced mural behind the bar!
Here’s the eight beers they have on draft. Nice selection!
There’s tables and booths opposite the bar in this side of the restaurant.
The stone fireplace gives the room a nice, warm ambiance.
Here’s the main dining room with tables, booths and a bit of a cyan hue coloring it overhead.
There’s more booths up here facing the front wall with windows looking out at War Memorial Drive.
Here’s a cool painting up in the front of the dining room of a Greek warrior offering a cheeseburger to the three headed dog that the restaurant is named after.
Much of the staff has remained from the Mango days and here’s two of them, Emily, who’s the manager and Eli who’s a server here. Great to see both of them!
And here’s another familiar face from the Mango days, Victor! Wonderful to see his smiling face again!
Meanwhile, back at the bar...
Jessica is serving up our cheeseburger dinner! How beautiful...and the cheeseburger looks pretty good too!
I got the Medusa burger and a side of the fried cheese curds. It’s hard to see the burger as it’s buried beneath a mound of bacon and fried onions, but it looks and smells delicious! It’s so big I was trying to figure out how to eat it, when Victor told me to just smoosh it down and start eating it, so that’s what I did!
Smoosh, smoosh and then I dug in. It was such a tasty burger, you can read more about it in the review below, but it had a lot of wonderful tastes going on in one burger and the bun was bakery fresh. The fried cheese curds were a savory and creamy treat as well. It was a great meal!
But it sure vanished quickly! I was full, but kind of had a craving for something sweet, when I saw this sign on the bar...
Adult milkshakes! Well, that certainly sounds interesting! And delicious!
Once again I consulted with Brittney and she suggested the Hera (Queen of Olympus) Salted Caramel Bourbon Milkshake. Bourbon, caramel and ice cream...how could I turn that down? Here’s Brittney in action making the milk shake. It’s made with caramel ice cream, bourbon, a pinch of salt and it’s topped off with whipped cream and caramel sauce!
As good as it looks, it tasted even better! It turns out that Emily developed all the recipes for the milkshakes and specialty drinks on the menu. Judging from this wonderful milkshake, she did a great job! Thanks to Britney, Don, Emily, Eli and Victor for a great meal and fun evening at Cerberus Burger Bar!
I got the Medusa burger which is a burger topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, fried onions and BBQ sauce. It was really good and the savory flavors of the burger, bacon and fried onions were complimented nicely by the rich and creamy cheddar cheese and spicy BBQ sauce. I always say that the bun can make or break a cheeseburger and the bun definitely added plus scores to the cheeseburger as it was bakery fresh, soft and tasty. For a side dish I got the Fried Cheese Curds and they were crispy on the outside and filled with creamy white cheddar cheese on the inside. Really tasty and it tasted really nice with the cheeseburger.
For dessert I tried one of the adult milkshakes. On the suggestion of Brittney, I got the Hera (Queen of Olympus) Salted Caramel Bourbon Milkshake. You saw the picture of it and all I can say was that it tasted even better than it looks! They have four other flavors in the adult milkshake menu and I definitely am coming back to sample more of them!

Four Galloping Gourmets—Cerberus has only been open a little over a month, but they started developing this idea back when the restaurant was called Mango and they’ve definitely found their niche with this burger bar idea. I’ll definitely be back and you should check it out!
