I’ve been to the downtown Rizzi’s On State Restaurant twice but I’ve never showcased their Sheridan Road restaurant here on MBIP. Time to correct that right now!
Here we are at Rizzi’s on Sheridan. It’s located in the strip mall next to Jeffrey Alans.
As you can see, it’s nice, dark and cozy inside of here.
And I love the bar located in the back. Let’s snag a seat and get settled in for the evening!
Here’s friendly bartender Chad serving up the first beer of the evening! Chad told me about a yearly pool party he and his friends have at the Pump House Shed Bar every summer and we’ll be attending that. Stay tuned for more information about that event this summer!
Wine glasses hang suspended overhead at the top of the bar.
As you can see, the view of the back of the bar is spectacular!
They have an ample selection of wine in here, it’s an Italian restaurant, so of course they do.
Okay, time to order dinner, I think I’ll try a couple of appetizers to go along with the beers.
Velvet booths line the walls in here.
Another shot of the bar...
And dinner is about to be served!
I got an order of Arancini which are fried risotto fritters stuffed with ricotta cheese and served with Rizzi’s homemade meat sauce. They are so good, kind of like Italian corn fritters. I think this is the only restaurant in Peoria that serves these. It’s worth the trip for these alone!
I also got the stuffed mushrooms and I think these are the best in town. They’re stuffed with cream cheese and Italian sausage. Really tasty!
In the bathroom you’ll find some vintage photos of Peoria.
Here’s a classic shot of the Hotel Pere Marquette.
And here’s a photo of the building that used to house Spalding Institute. You can read more about this place right here. We’ll see you all tomorrow!
