Time for week number four of our twelve week chicken wing tour. Today I thought we’d stop in at A World Of Wings on Main Street. It’s a world that revolves around all things winged and chicken so let’s make like people that give a flying cluck and give this place a try.
Here we are at World Of Wings on this corner of Main Street and North Bourland. It’s not that easy being green, but it looks like they’re making the most of it so good for them!
They’re open, so let’s step inside and start this week’s wing thing!
As you step inside you’re greeted with this signature piece of fuzzy-wuzzy carpeting reminding you that you are indeed entering a world of wings, there’s no turning back now!
Seating is self-optional here in this winged restaurant, so let’s take a look around.
Booths line the far wall over here...
And there’s another booth and a table at this front window locaton which overlooks Main Street.
A communal table stands tall in the front room over here.
But I think we’ll just belly up to the bar. And after I settled in I found out some very disturbing news...
There’s no beer in here. Oh no! After picking my jaw up off the floor and trying to wrap my mind around trying to eat chicken wings without beer, I ordered an iced tea and here’s Rachel serving it up with a lovely smile. No beer? Oh my dear!
They have 20 different styles of chicken wings to choose from in here. This certainly is a world of wings! I decided to go with a sampler of 20 wings that have four different varieties of flavors between them. Now if only they had beer! No, I can’t let that go.
Gumby has come along today and is my chicken wing eating partner for the day.
Here’s my left view from the bar and one of the big screen TV’s behind it...
And there’s another one over here to the right.
Framed Phil Luciano Dining Out review alert coupled with a silhouette obligatory mirror shot. I love it when that happens and it almost makes up for the lack of beer in here...but not really.
Here’s the business card section at the front of the bar near the cash register...hey, how’d those get there?
While wandering around I ran into the owners of World of Wings, Jeff and Sandra, aren't they a great looking couple? I asked Jeff about the lack of beer and he said they’ve applied for a liquor license and that hopefully soon suds will be available with the wings. We’ll be back in a month or so for our Eating Main Street tour, so maybe by then we can get some beer with our wings!
And speaking of wings, here’s our order! As I said, I got a platter of twenty to sample four of the flavors. I chose the Teriyaki, Ranch, Spicy BBQ and Bourbon flavors. Wing-a-ding-ding!
Time for the all-important cooling process where I’d usually get another beer, but there’s no beer here to be had. Sob!
Rachel told me that the Ranch flavor is the best seller, so I thought I’d start off with that and I can see why it’s the favorite flavor here in A World Of Wings, very tasty! It’s got just a bit of heat and a lot of flavor packed into this drumette!
As a palate cleanser between wing flavors, I ordered up a couple of their homemade sweet powder biscuits. They look great!
And they taste even better! They’re deep-fried biscuits, liberally dusted with powdered sugar and they sit in a melted butter sauce. They’re delicious and they bring back Scarface memories!
The other wing flavors were good, but I have to admit...
None of them hold a candle to the Ranch flavor. That’s what I would suggest to order in here.
Weekly bones and napkins shot!
Burp!
Okay, I didn’t really finish that whole platter, I got the rest of them to go with Gumby riding shotgun over the whole wild-winged affair! We’ll see you all tomorrow, I need to get home to have a beer or three to wash all this down!
Chicken Wing Rating
Three Wings guitar picks. I enjoyed all of the flavors at A World Of Wings but the Ranch style was clearly the front runner. And let’s hope the next time we stop in here they have beer to go along with the wings!
