This summer I’ve seen some pictures on facecrack of a monthly event they’ve been having at Jimmy’s Bar called, “A Paint And A Pint,” where you can go and take part of a painting class while enjoying a beer or three...or maybe even four! It looks like a lot of fun and so I decided to attend the latest edition of this special event last Tuesday. You can come and join me at this party of paints by scrolling on down this post. Off we go to Farmington Road...
To Jimmy’s Bar!
The event starts at 6:30PM, but as always I’m early, so let’s go inside and get a bite to eat before this painting party starts.
I love the way Jimmy’s back wall is festively decorated with photos, Irish flags and a Guinness mirror.
What time is it?
Well, it’s time to amble up to the bar and get a beer and something to eat!
And here’s Danny behind the bar serving up the first beer of the evening.
I settled down at the end of the bar and met the pretty painting teacher for the Paint And A Pint events, Kristen Risen who’s down here with her friend, Jack. Great to meet both of them. Now it’s time to eat!
I got the Mrs. Spears Basket, which is a corn dog, potato chips and a pickle spear.
I put a healthy dollop of mustard on the corn dog and it’s delicious!
Here’s Kristen having a pre-painting drink and a shot! Cheers!
This painting party is part of Jimmy’s anniversary week. This is the 33rd anniversary of Jimmy’s Bar! Congratulations to Jimmy and his crew!
The painting party takes place out here in the beer garden in the back of the bar.
The event is sold out and it’s filling up quickly.
Check it out, here’s MBIP pals, Kathy and Steve. I didn’t know they would be here and it was a nice surprise to see them here!
And Phil and Karen Luciano showed up too! Don’t eat that paint Phil, Karen needs to paint with it!
This is my painting station. I’m sitting up close to the stage so I can snap photos while painting and drinking beer. It’s called multi-tasking, folks!
Ron and Jolliff were seated behind me and they’re anxious to start painting too.
And here we go! Kristen is showing the painting that we’re going to be using as the model for tonight’s class. She explained that we can paint along and copy this one or we can paint outside of the box and create our own painting as we go. I think I’ll be painting outside of the box, it’s just the way I do things.
Here Kristen is showing how we can map out our painting by marking it for different sections of the painting.
My canvas is marked and ready to go!
We’re starting off by painting the sky.
These two ladies are seated at the table opposite of mine and are working feverishly on their paintings.
Ha! She’s really painting out of the box, I love it! She’s my new hero, great work!
Kathy and Karen are painting up a storm, keep scrolling along to see their finished paintings.
Very nice! Everyone’s doing a great job and really getting into this, it’s a ton of fun!
There’s rumors of a fall series starting for this event. Single guys should take note, it’s like 95 percent women who go to this, I love it!
Here’s Kristen getting a boost from a plastic crate to show us some a little bit about perspective in the painting.
Kristen also walks around to the different tables to give out pointers and instructions on painting. She’s a great teacher!
We’re just about done with the painting for the evening as Kristen puts the final strokes on her canvas.
Here’s my finished painting. I kind of went my own way and created this Happy House. It’s going to be installed in a bar soon, so stay tuned for that!
Nice work, ladies!
Ron and Jolliff’s paintings are very cool! I love seeing all these finished works of art that happened this evening! So cool to see all this creativity in one room!
Kathy and Karen’s paintings turned out great!
Here I am with my finished painting alongside Kristen who did a fabulous job of hosting and instructing this Paint and a Pint Night! It was a multi-colored blast!
Meanwhile, back at the bar, Jake is serving up the first of many post-painting beers! Cheers and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
