Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night, starring this week’s host, Alexander’s Steakhouse with special guest stars, Abigail, Joe and Johnny! And now, please welcome this week’s host from beautiful downtown Peoria, Alexander’s Steakhouse!
Here we are out on the first Saturday Night of 2016! There’s Alexander’s over there...
Let’s walk the plank...
And get inside, it’s freezing out here!
Ah, nice and warm inside. Hmm...there’s no one behind the front counter here in the foyer.
There she is over here! This is Abigail, tonight’s pretty hostess! I told her I’d be eating at the bar and she told me to go on in. So, let’s go!
I love the coppertop bar in here! It really has a classic steakhouse feel to it! And there’s no one sitting at the bar right now, so let’s grab a chair and get settled in for the evening!
Here’s Joe the friendly bartender serving up an ice cold beer! Joe was the bartender the last time we were here, which was way back in November of 2014! I can’t believe it’s been over a year since we’ve been here! Fun flies when you’re having time!
These are the half dozen beers available on tap.
There’s tables to dine at opposite the bar. But there’s plenty more options for dining in here...
As you can see, Alexander’s is not at a loss for a table to dine at! It’s huge in here!
I really like these framed, vintage whiskey ads that hang on the brick walls in the restaurant.
One of the many things I love about this place is you can look at the different selections of steak in this cooler before you order. I think I’m going to try the Teriyaki Filet tonight, which is on the bottom left. I’ve never had that and it sounds pretty tasty.
But first we’ll get a salad at the salad bar. The sign says that it’s, “Peoria’s Best Salad Bar,” and I can’t disagree.
And there’s my salad creation! A perfect way to start off a steak dinner. And speaking of steak...
I spy a familiar face behind the smoke at the grill over there...
It’s Johnny, Alexander’s Grillmaster! Johnny’s been cooking steaks here now for over 23 years and is an expert at it. You can cook your own steak in here if you like, but why would you when Johnny can use his 23 year grilling experience to cook it to perfection!
Here’s some steaks and Texas Toast grilling away. I have to admit, I like the Texas Toast just about as good as the steaks in here!
Meanwhile, back at the bar, we’re all set for the main course!
Here’s Johnny, serving it up with a smile!
The Teriyaki Filet looks and smells so good and so does the Texas Toast and the baked potato! Let’s dig in!
The Teriyaki Filet is really tender and delicious. You can read more about it in the review below, but the Teriyaki marinade really gives it a unique flavor!
That meal was so good! The steak was cooked perfectly and the potato and Texas Toast were perfect side dishes!
On the way out, I noticed these pictures of The Beefeaters Club.
If you can eat their three pound top sirloin, you get your picture on the wall and your name on this gold plaque. Hmm...that may be a challenge I’ll have to try down the road!
I started off with a salad made from the salad bar at Alexander’s. The salad bar has several styles of lettuce to choose from and lots of fresh vegetables and toppings to choose from. I built a nice salad but didn’t go overboard as I needed to save room for the massive steaks they serve in here.
I got the Teriyaki Filet, which is a ten ounce cut. Johnny told me one ingredient they add to the Teriyaki marinade is fresh pineapple juice. He said that really adds to the flavor and he was right. The steak had a nice flavor and the teriyaki marinade gave the steak a lot of flavor and the sweetness of the pineapple juice really was a nice compliment to the savory side of the steak. It was tender and grilled to perfection. The baked potato and Texas Toast were great grilled side dishes as well.
