Well, yesterday wasn’t a great day for me and for a lot of other people, but I don’t want to turn this blog into one un-ending post about that. And so (except for a subtle jab here and there) it ends right now. I need to get back on the MBIP track and what better place to do that than at one of Peoria’s most unique shops, Acme Comics!
Here we are at one of my favorite Peoria shops, Acme Comics!
Of course I have to take a shot of the logo that my brother Jim designed for Acme years ago. Okay, let’s go in and take a look around, I always love browsing and looking around in here.
As you can see, the store is loaded with inventory, we’ll take a look around soon, but first, let’s go say hi to that fellow behind the counter over there...
It’s Bob Gordon, owner of Acme Comics! Bob’s also a contributor to MBIP and here he is holding up a special Spiderman edition featuring Penn & Teller. I had no idea they were featured in a comic book. Okay, let’s take a look around and you’ll see that while the store is called, Acme Comics, there’s a lot more than just comics to look at and buy in here...
There’s also albums! I still love flipping through vinyl albums and looking at the cover art on them.
And there’s also a rack of compact discs in here too.
Acme is also a collector’s paradise with lots of figurines, models and glasses. And Acme not only sells collectibles, they buy them too, so if you want to trade in some things that are collecting dust up in your attic and turn them into cash, bring them in to Acme!
Pokémon made a big comeback this summer with the whole Pokémon Go phenomenon thingy that I still can’t quite figure out. But if you want some old school Pokémon cards and collectibles there’s plenty to be found in here and you don’t even need a smart phone to find them!
Here’s a blast from the past, VHS tapes! And there’s also DVD’s too if you’re in a non-streaming mood.
The board games that line the top of the walls in Acme aren’t for sale, but I love looking at them!
And yes, it is called Acme Comics and there’s lots of comics, graphic novels and paperbacks in here for your reading pleasure.
You can also get fun locally produced items in here including monster stickers and fun stuff from Jeff Carlson’s Mani Yack line and local writer and artist, Skottie Young’s, “I Hate Fairyland’s” editions. Very cool and made and created by Peorians!
Hey check out the Superman comic book on the right, evil Lex Luther is President! Ha, that makes me think of...oh, never mind, we’ll see you all tomorrow!
