It’s always a blast being a guest star on Good Day Central Illinois! Everybody at the station is always friendly and fun and the GDCI Co-Hosts, Lindsey Mills and Clay Gordon are real pros who make sure the interview flows smooth and they can even calm down a neurotic nutcase like myself! I was on the show yesterday and here’s some behind the scenes shots and some on-air moments from that segment. Okay, lights, camera, MBIP Mobile...action!
Here we go cruising down University Street at 7:30 in the morning! I usually don’t leave my apartment until after the crack of noon, so this is always an odd feeling to be out and about in the morning! At least it’s cloudy out so I don’t have to deal with the nasty sunshine rearing its ugly head!
Signpost ahead: WYZZ, WMBD and CI Proud! Those billboards and the large garden of satellite dishes are a sure sign we’ve arrived at the GDCI studios! Let’s park and get ready to go inside!
The MBIP Mobile is safely parked and as I head to the front door I happened upon the WMBD/WYZZ Employee of the Month parking place and once again it’s empty. This happened the last time I was here and it’s just so sad! Hopefully next trip there will be a car parked here so I don’t start weeping uncontrollably at the lack of an employee of the month!
Okay, time to compose myself and walk into the studios and calm down for another segment on GDCI! Today we’re going to be discussing the MBIP A Live In The Year Of A Sandwich series that we debuted this week, so I’m excited about this!
As I head to the break room I ran into Erica, who keeps this place nice and clean! Erica’s really nice and it’s always great to see her!
And speaking of clean, check out the break room back here! It’s always neat and tidy and the green room is in the back here with comfortable chairs and magazines. And my favorite part is the desk and wall in here that’s perfectly balanced! I must find out their decorator and give him or her kudos on a great design job back here!
Meanwhile, back up front...obligatory break room mirror shot! I love it when that happens!
They have a board welcoming everyone with the days national events and hey, check out the bottom one, yesterday was International Marty Wombacher Day! I wish someone would’ve told me, I’d have brought a cake or a box of Cracker Jacks or something! Oh well, maybe next year!
I don’t know of a refrigerator for sale Tina, but if you want to meet me here later tonight after everyone has gone for the night, I’ll help you sneak one of these out the back door!
I have to tell you, this Popcorn Friday sign really disturbs me. First, I’ve never seen an American Idol megaphone and second, isn’t that show off the air? And thirdly, how do you fill up a megaphone with popcorn? There’s holes at the bottom and top of a megaphone, so there’s no way to fill it up! Is this management’s idea of some kind of cruel and unusual joke? And the words, “Popcorn Friday,” kind of unnerve me! Let’s just move along before I have a meltdown over here!
Okay, this is more like it! Who else finds this “Attempt Two Breaths” illustration pretty sexy and downright titillating? Anybody? Anyone except for me? Bueller..Bueller..Bueller...
And now, please welcome WMBD’s Fab Four to the breakroom! From top: Kevin, Brett, Emily and the woman who started all of this, Julie the receptionist!
That’s Amber in the top photo, she’s going to be the guest before me and she’s the Fitness Manager for Riverplex Recreation and Wellness Center. It was great to meet her and here’s GDCI producer, Taylor Mickleberry to take us into the studio. I’m breathing a sigh of relief because the further I get from that Popcorn Friday sign the better!
And here we are inside the luxurious GDCI TV studio! There’s the Co-Hosts, Lindsey Mills and Clay Gordon, always great to see them and they do such a great job on here! Before you know it, Amber’s in the guest seat and she did a great job! Check her out o the TV screen, she looks like a young Jennifer Aniston!
Meanwhile, over at the weather station, that’s Meteorologist Rachel Kaye getting ready for a weather update! Lauren Rainson, who’s usually here reporting on the weather is off for the week and I hope she’s having a good time on her vacation! Great to meet Rachel! And now, it’s time for a commercial break!
We’re back and here’s my segment on GDCI! The past two times I was on I wore a t-shirt and always kind of felt like a bum watching the segments later because Lindsey and Clay always look so nice on air. Now I know that without lots of plastic surgery, I’ll never look as good as them, but I thought I’d wear a coat and tie just to level the field out a little bit on air! As I said earlier, we discussed the new MBIP series, “A Year In The Life Of A Sandwich,” which debuted here on the blog this week. In addition to Lindsey and Clay being great interviewers and knowing how to keep the segment moving along smoothly, it’s always cool how they incorporate graphics from the blog within the TV segment! That’s the show’s Producer, Taylor Mickleberry who gets all that done and he’s also a behind the scenes pro who always makes sure the segments flowing smoothly while intertwining graphics and photos from the blog along with the live interview. If you missed this interview you can watch it by clicking on the picture above or right here: MBIP On GDIC, June 1, 2016!
After our segment I got a shot of Rachel who was getting ready to do a weather segment in front of the green screen...
Then Clay took a selfie of us on the set ...
And then I was right back where all this started, out in the front room saying goodbye to Julie the receptionist! Thanks to Lindsey, Clay, Taylor, Rachel and everybody at WYZZ/WMBD/CI Proud for another fun day and segment on Good Day Central Illinois! I’ll see you all tomorrow!
