I recently watched a documentary (Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead) about National Lampoon magazine on Netflix and it reminded me of how great the writing and ideas were in that publication and what an influence it had on me not only in my writing buy my general outlook on life itself. So I decided that today I’d put up a half a dozen National Lampoon related links and below that are some coming attractions for this week on MBIP. Oh...and if you don’t read this post, I’ll kill this dog...wait a second...I don’t have a dog. So I guess it’s no big deal if you don’t read this post after all.
Talking to National Lampoon Co-Founder Henry Beard About Humor Writing, the Lampoon and More
Henry Beard co-founded the National Lampoon with Doug Kenney. He always seemed like the stable person who got the magazine to the printer on time, in addtition to being a genius comedic writer and editor. This is a great interview with him.

National Lampoon: the magazine that became a comedy empire
An article in the Guardian about the documentary, Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead.
Tomorrow’s post is going to be a three part post. The first part is from an amazing Saturday Night dinner that i had with eight friends of mine at Hacienda El Mirador in Junction City. The second part is called, “When Tallis Attacks” which will briefly show Tallis attacking my pet sheep after the dinner. Then there will be a chili judging from No Wake Zone, which is happening today, so I have a lot of work to do putting all of this together! Tuesday I continue my year-long sandwich tour and it’s the 34th week of sandwiches. Wednesday I’m visiting the studio of J. Draper Glass and I have no idea what I’m doing on Thursday and Friday. I have to get ready to go judge the chili contest at No Wake Zone now, so let’s hope someone has the good sense to cook up a beanless entry! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
