David Letterman is the longest running late night talk show host. He started on NBC in 1982 and retired from his CBS show two years ago in May of 2015. Like his idol and mentor, Johnny Carson, he’s always been reclusive off the air and doesn’t open up or give a lot of interviews. That’s why it was surprising that he gave a long-winded interview to New York magazine a couple weeks ago. Here’s a link to that interview and there’s six more David Letterman links below. And then there’s the weekly MBIP Coming Attractions, so there!
David Letterman Reflects on 33 Years in Late-Night Television - This is an interesting interview in the NY Times a couple of weeks before he retired.
How David Letterman Reinvented TV - This is a great article documenting the beginning of Letterman’s talk show and how it was different than anything else on TV at the time.
David Letterman’s early career as a weatherman - A story and a video clip of David Letterman doing the weather in Indianapolis.
“Letterman” head writer Merrill Markoe: “The show felt constantly unstable to me” - Merrill Markoe was definitely a key factor in David Letterman’s TV show and career, this is a great interview with the unsung hero that definitely shaped the Late Night With David Letterman TV show.
Just Bulbs - Just Shades - This is my favorite Letterman “on the street” skits. These skits were my favorite thing on his show and once Merrill Markoe left, he stopped doing them.
Just Bulbs - Just Shades - The Marty After Dark Edition - I loved the Just Bulbs - Just Shades skit so much, I recreated it for my Marty After Dark blog after I found out both stores were still in business in New York.
Tomorrow we continue our monthly vegetarian dinners with a meatless meal at my favorite Italian restaurant in Peoria, Rizzi’s. Then on Tuesday we’re taking a road trip for our 42nd week in the MBIP “A Year In The LIfe Of A Sandwich” tour. And right now I have no idea what I’m going to do for the rest of the week, so I better get to work here! We’ll see you all tomorrow!

Bonus Peep Photos!
Last Friday I met my friends Amber and Joe at Hacienda El Mirador and we had an early Easter Peep celebration. I brought two stuffed Peeps for their cat, Thurston and for Tallis, who attacked Tripod the sheep a while ago, you can see photos from that by clicking here and scrolling down. I was interested to see what Tallis would do to the multi-colored Peep and he didn’t disappoint! In fact his show was the highlight of the evening! Here’s some photos that Amber took from our Friday Easter Peep Evening.
This is Joe and I with the Peeps at Hacienda El Mirador.
And here’s Tallis enjoying his Easter Peep!
There’s the stuffing...
And here’s all that’s left when Tallis was done! This was a great show and I hope to make this an annual pre-Easter event!
