If you’re near downtown Peoria and you’re craving coffee you won’t have to go far to get your caffeine fix! There’s Thirty-Thirty Coffee Co. near the top of the Main Street hill and there’s Zion Coffee Co. nearby on Adams Street. This year two more coffee shops have opened up and they’re within spitting distance of each other. The names of these two coffee shops are CxT Roasting Company and Riley’s Cupcake and Coffee Lounge. They’re on opposite sides of The Nut House and since CxT Roasting Company opened up first, we’ll go there on this episode and hit Riley’s next time, so it’s off we go on another caffeinated journey!
Here we go up the hill on Main Street, park and then it’s a short walk to CxT Roasting Company. Check out the outside seating, nice!
Wow, it’s bigger in here than I thought! It’s a little busy in the back, so let’s look around up front here till it clears out back there.
There’s a lot of things on display up here. Check out all the gift items.
There’s also a nice selection of locally made jewelry over here.
I love the bicycle art and the little coffee nooks with chairs and subtle lighting to relax in. This place is really put together nicely!
That sign reminded me that we’re here for coffee, but it still looks kind of busy back there, so we’ll take a few more photos.
In addition to gifts and jewelry, there’s also a nice photography exhibit over on this wall. The photographs are by Emily Ogden and you can see more of her work and read about her by clicking here. Check out the last photo with a patent-pending unintentional obligatory photo mirror shot in it. I love it when that happens!
Okay, it looks like the crowd is gone back here...
Whoops, he’s making one last coffee drink for Liz! Nice to meet you, Liz and enjoy that coffee! I love her smile!
And now it’s our turn! This is Tristan who owns and operates CxT Roasting Company. He told me he’s been in business here on Main Street for over six months now and business has been good. I gave him the Coffee Talk challenge of making a coffee drink that even a non-coffee drinker like myself would enjoy and he flew into action! It always amazes me all the steps to making a coffee drink involves. And look, this is the first time on a coffee talk episode that a stopwatch has been utilized. Pretty exciting! After two minutes and 47 seconds, Tristan had the drink all prepared! Time to give it a taste!
I went and had a seat over at the coffee bar and tried it out. Tristan told me it was a Iced Mocha Latte and it was delicious! It had just a subtle coffee flavor with an underlying chocolate taste. It was cool and refreshing!
I met Shelby while I was enjoying my coffee and she told me she works at the Peoria Riverfront Museum and comes here every afternoon for an ice tea break. I had a nice conversation with her and I think you’ll agree that she’s not only very pretty, but she has the most perfect eyebrows I’ve ever seen!
I told you it was right next door to The Nut House, so there was no way I was going back to my car without stopping in and saying hi to Debbie who owns the place. Hi Debbie! And of course I got a bag of malted milk balls for a sweet ending to this Coffee Talk episode! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
Coffee Talk Rating
