Before I started this tour I asked for suggestions on where to go on the MBIP facecrack page and my friend Marie Blackburn suggested the Las Delicias Ice Cream Shop on Main Street. I love that place and so today we’re going there for our eighth week and since Marie suggested this, she’s going to be joining us and i have a feeling she’s going to be making an appearance any second now...
And whoomp, there she is: Marie! She not only suggested this stop on the tour, she’s going to be driving us there, how nice is that? Okay off we go for week number eight of our ten week ice cream tour!
Here we are at Las Delicias, I love the front window and their logo!
Marie leads the way inside as we begin week number eight of our ice cream tour!
Wow, there’s a big crowd in here. Marie and I decide to hang back while they all get their orders. Hey, this would be the perfect time to put the MBIP Camera to work and snap some photos of the place. So let’s get snapping!
In addition to homemade ice cream, they also make their own exotic flavored popsicles in here. As you can see, there’s a wide range of flavors to choose from.
The colorful hand-painted ice cream mural on the back wall is beautiful! St. Marks school sent some nice letters after a field trip here. A field trip to an ice cream shop? That never happened when I was in school and now I feel kind of gypped!
They have a full juice bar in the back of the shop. All the drinks are made fresh to order. And they recently started a new facecrack page, so you should go and like it, just click here and hit the like button, it’ll only take a second. We’ll wait...okay, I think it’s time to check out what we came for, the ice cream!
Check out all the flavors offered in the cases! This is going to be a rough decision!
There’s a familiar face behind the counter, it’s Gabriela and she’s making my ice cream treat! There’s the finished product and that’s Mary behind her.
Marie and I got our ice cream in bowls, but there’s also cones and edible bowls to hold your ice cream selection in if you want to go that route.
We decided to sit at this table and here’s the ice cream for week number eight of the tour! Marie got the coffee flavored ice cream with chocolate sauce and I chose the ice cream cake with chocolate and caramel sauce. They look so good and there’s Marie diving into her selection. This is her first time here and she’s loving it!
They have ice cream flavors here that no other ice cream emporium in town has. This is the ice cream cake flavor and it’s a rich vanilla with real cake inside of it! They make their ice cream fresh here every day and it’s really unique in both flavor and consistency. The recipes are all family recipes and you won’t find ice cream like this anywhere else in Peoria and beyond. Las Delicias celebrated their fourth anniversary last April and it hasn’t always been an easy ride, you can read about that here. Both Gabriela and Mary have had to deal with loss in this journey, but instead of feeling sorry for themselves, they’ve devoted themselves to this sweet business and Peoria should support this kind of spirit!
This was the first time for this happy trio of ice cream eaters and they said they’ll definitely be back!
That was some delicious ice cream! There’s been rumors that another ice cream shop here in town is somehow related to Las Delicias, but that’s not true. There’s only one Las Delicias in Peoria and this is it! Thanks to Gabriela and Mary for the great ice cream and hospitality and thanks to Marie for driving and hanging out for the afternoon, I had a blast! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
Ice Cream Rating
Four Ice Cream Cones—This is really unique ice cream and it’s made fresh every day! As I said, there’s only one Las Delicias in Peoria and this is the place. If you’ve never been, you should definitely give it a try! And just because summer’s over, you can still get an ice cream treat in here, they’re open all year round!
