I’m sure if you’re reading this you’re wondering what the hell is going on here so I’ll just let you know right here and right now!
I’ve been experiencing some chest pains and found out that there’s some blockage in the arteries in my heart. So they have to go in and clear it out and I’m scheduled for surgery on Wednesday October 24th. While the words, “heart surgery” sound pretty dramatic and scary, really they’re not.
My brother Tom had the exact same thing happen to him three years ago and we learned that this is a pretty standard surgical procedure. The worst part of it is that for the first few days there’s a lot of pain and discomfort. That’s the bad news but the good news can be summed up in one word: Morphine!
The first couple days you’re hooked up to a Morphine pump and hopefully that will make all of this a little less unpleasant.
For the time before the surgery I’ve been told to take it pretty easy and avoid as much stress as I can. I told my doctor about the blog and he suggested that I put it on hold for now and until I’m pretty well recovered which he told me takes around six to eight weeks. Hopefully by Christmas or at the latest the new year, MBIP will be back up and running!
So I thought that in this time, I’ll just turn this into a diary blog and post something every day. It’ll help keep my mind off of surgery and it’ll be something for people to read if they are so inclined.
So to sum up today’s Broken Heart Diaries:
1. My heart is broken, but it will be fixed in time to start another year of MBIP adventures in 2019!
2. Morphine: Good!
It’s not nearly as bad as it sounds and let’s not turn this into a pity party! Also instead of sending “thoughts and prayers,” just send cash. Or morphine. Or both!
Random Photo of the Day
I’m not going to be taking tons of photos for this series but I will be featuring a random photo or two every day. Today’s is a double shot of Amy Winehouse I have framed within the MBIP World Headquarters. And there’s three drink chips, two from The Hole in the Wall Saloon and one from Mike’s Tavern.
