It’s hard to believe that this week marks the fifth month of this tour! We’ve got eight weeks left and it’s all over! Time flies when you’re having steak every week! This week we’re going to one of my favorite steakhouses and one of Peoria’s most unique places for a steak, Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse. It’s Peoria’s only Italian steakhouse where the steaks meat...I mean meet tasty pasta and the atmosphere is swanky with a casual undertone. It was originally located at the Shoppes At Grand Prairie but they moved to East Peoria a few years ago, so it’s over the river and through the woods to East Peoria we go!
Here we are at Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse. The lights are blazing so let’s go inside before we burn a retina or two!
As I walked inside to the hostess station, I saw a familiar face, it’s Jackie who we met when we were here last doing a vegetarian Saturday night segment! Great to see her again! I told her I was going to eat at the bar and she waved me in, so away we go!
I love the dark cyan atmosphere in here. The bar always kind of looks like a spaceship to me! As I sat down the pretty bartender for the evening Katie came by with a bottle of Budweiser! The night is off to a beautiful start. I had already looked at the menu online, so I placed this weeks steak order with Katie.
There’s the seven beers on tap and a shot of the black and blue marble-topped circular bar.
Banquettes line the wall opposite the bar and sparkly chandeliers hang overhead.
There’s two framed black and white portraits of the Chairman of the Board with Louis Armstrong and B.B. King sandwiched in between them.
There’s booths on the outer perimeter of the bar area that lead into the main dining area. A dessert platter is on display in the middle of the room. Sweet!
Meanwhile, back at the bar, it looks like it’s just about time for our 20th steak dinner! Moo!
We’re starting off with a salad delivered by Katie and I got it with the house dressing. The shaved Parmesan slices on top are a nice touch!
And now it’s time for the star of tonight’s dinner, the steak! I got the bone-in ribeye with a horseradish butter crust. It looks absolutely divine!
For my side dish I got the corkscrew Alfredo pasta and I also got a side of grilled onions. I love the buttery grilled onions here and while they’re great on the steak, I enjoy eating them all alone as a part of the side dish as well. The pasta was creamy, rich and so tasty! A wonderful warm-up for the main course!
I ordered the bone-in ribeye steak and it’s cooked to perfection! It’s an 18 ounce cut of steak and I got it topped with a horseradish butter crust. Okay, let’s dig in!
Wow, this was such a great tasting cut of steak! It was tender and full of flavor. The grilled onions and the horseradish butter crust added a salty and somewhat spicy splash to the flavor fest!
Steak Rating
Four Elsie the Cows—The steak was so delicious and the grilled onions and the unique horseradish butter crust took it over the top!
