Live from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, Ulrich’s Rebellion Room and featuring special guests, Robin, Jim, Paul and Brandon! Now please welcome from Main Street in downtown Peoria, Ulrich’s Rebellion Room!
My original plan for the evening was to go and try out the new Rumberger’s restaurant on Main Street. I traveled up Main, got to Rumberger’s and the place was dark. I went and looked at the sign on the door and according to this note they’re having air conditioning problems and they’re closed for the evening. Well, it looks like it’s time to improvise, we’ll just go up a couple of blocks to...
Ulrich’s Rebellion Room! I haven’t been to Ulrich's for a while and I’ve never had a bad meal in here, so this is this week’s Saturday destination! Let’s go inside and get out of this heat, hopefully their air conditioner is working!
It’s nice and cool inside here and there’s plenty of seats at the bar. I guess this heat is keeping people at home this weekend! As soon as a I settled in, Robin, the pretty bartender on duty brought me an ice-cold bottle of Budweiser, perfect timing!
Jim was on duty here at the bar and it’s always good to see him and catch up. There was another familiar face down at the end of the bar and that’s Paul, who I met back when B Easy was operating down the street under the guidance of Brandon Altorfer. Paul works here now and so does Brandon, Jim and Paul said Brandon would be in later, so keep on scrolling to see if he makes it into work tonight!
The back of the bar is nice with all the wood work and the impressive beer inventory in the cooler. There’s a shot of my view from where I’m perched at the bar and overhead is a nice tin ceiling, always the mark of excellence in an Irish bar!
There’s a communal table up in the front of the bar that overlooks Main Street and booths line the wall opposite the bar.
Note the framed portrait of JFK next to the Guinness sign, two more mandatory items for Irish bar decor! There’s a shot from the back of the bar and speaking of Guinness, that arrow points to the spot where the Guinness tap is along with eleven other beers on tap at the bar.
Jim’s over at the grill area in back cooking up tonight’s Saturday night dinner, he said it’s just about ready, so let’s return to our seat at the bar!
There it is in all its glory, this week’s Saturday night dinner served up by Jim!
I got the Ribeye steak sandwich with a side of cole slaw. The cole slaw was really tasty. Robin told me it’s made fresh daily and it was a great start to the dinner.
The Ribeye sandwich here is massive and I got it with grilled onions and added a piece of lettuce for garnish. You can read more about it in the review below, but it was a fantastic steak sandwich!
Soon all that was left was the empty plate and just as I finished, Brandon Altorfer showed up at the bar! Great to see him and nice that he made it into work! All is well, once again and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
Ulrich’s Rebellion Room has been in operation on Main Street since 2009 and it’s one of Peoria’s finest Irish Taverns. It’s also a great place for lunch, dinner or a late night snack. They offer an extensive menu featuring pizza, salad, appetizers, seven styles of burgers, fish and chips and ten different sandwich selections.
I got the Ribeye steak sandwich with a side of coleslaw for my Saturday night dinner. I’m kind of picky when it comes to cole slaw and I was very impressed with Ulrich’s take on the side dish. It was crunchy and had a wonderful tart taste to it, a great start to a Saturday night dinner!
The Ribeye steak sandwich was equally impressive! The sandwich is a hand-cut, eight ounce slab of Ribeye and it was grilled to perfection. It was juicy, tasty and the grilled onions topped it off nicely. It was served on a bakery fresh hoagie roll and the sandwich was delicious and very satisfying!
