I’ve now done three versions of the Marty Monologues and it’s always weird when a show is over. It’s a strange combination of relief, accomplishment and a little bit of a let-down feeling that it came and went so quickly. It always feels like there wasn’t enough time to appreciate the experience. But, as they say, that’s showbiz!
Putting these shows together is a ton of work and planning and it’s really exciting to do. It’s also a nerve-wracking experience because I never know if the audience will like it or if I can pull it off.
I’m really happy to say that both shows went fantastic and the audiences in both Peoria and New York were so gracious and wonderful! Thanks to everyone who came to the show, I appreciate it more than you know.
Here’s some photos from the Peoria show that happened on Sunday, October 20th at the Apollo Theatre.
There’s the Apollo Theatre, in all its lit-up glory! The Apollo Theatre is such a magnificent Peoria landmark and if you’ve never seen a show there, do yourself a favor and go to one. In fact I’ll be plugging an upcoming show in this post, so keep on scrolling!
That’s the Apollo marquee with the name of the show and a welcome sign! Thanks to Mary and Kirk for setting all of this up for the show!
There’s the poster for the show in the window. The poster was designed by Chelsie Tamms from Lettering Works and she did such a fabulous job with that and all of the art for social media. Thank you so much, Chelsie! She also surprised me with a Marty Monologues bag which you’ll see soon.
The other poster in the window is for the upcoming show I promised earlier to plug and here’s the plug: Go see Phenomenal Phil and the Mind Power & Magic Show on Saturday, November 23rd at the Apollo Theatre. It’s a night of magic, mind-reading and mystery. I’ve seen his shows and I guarantee he will blow your mind with mentalist magic! Click here for the details. I’ll be there and I hope to see you there too!
There’s my friends Amber and Joe who are not only the Marty Monologues Senior Story Editors and they help editing the stories for the show, they also work the door and I can’t thank them enough for all of their help and for their friendship! Thanks Amber and Joe, this show wouldn’t happen without you two!
We’ve put together a Peoria ensemble for these shows and I’m proud to be a part of it. I’ve read where if you surround yourself with talented people, you too will shine and that has definitely happened working with these talented friends of mine.
Clockwise, from the top, Sarah Marie Dillard and Brandon Mooberry from Sarah & The Underground who play the opening and closing songs. They always work up clever and enchanting arrangements for the songs and they always sound incredible! You can follow them on facecrack and you can view their website here.
Next is DJ juanGoblin who entertains the crowd before the show and spins tunes while I made candy bowls in between the stories. He picks fantastic music that blends with the subject matter of the show. Check out his upcoming gigs here on facecrack and click here to see his website.
Then there’s me and I talk about myself enough on this blog, so that’s all you need to know about Yours Fooly. Oh okay, you can follow the Marty Monologues facecrack page here.
The stage is all lit-up and looks absolutely glorious.
Sarah, Brandon and DJ juanGoblin are getting all set up for the evening. Mae, who’s juanGoblin’s roadie also lends a hand.
The Marty Monologues bag that Chelsie made for me is front and center! Thanks again for that wonderful surprise, Chelsie, everyone loved it!
Okay, it’s just about showtime!
And we’re off! Thanks to Amber who took this photo of the show in progress.
Sarah Marie Dillard took this closing shot of me being happy and relieved that it’s all over and everything went fantastic.
Thanks to everyone who was part of the Peoria show and extra-special thank to all of you who came and supported the show! I hope to see you at the next one!
Tomorrow we’ll have the New York photos by Donna A. Rocco, so stay tuned for that!
