A while back I went to Birdies Bar & Grill with my friends Amber and Joe. We thought that with a name like Birdies, we had to include it on this 13 month chicken tour and so that’s exactly what we decided to do.
And so now let’s get the cluck over to Birdie’s and begin week number 51 on this fowl tour!
Here we are at Birdies in Bellevue, Illinois. The signs say it all on both sides of the door: “Good Food and Cold Beer.”
That sounds good to me, let’s head on in and let the evening begin!
There’s a good crowd in here and over in that booth I see two familiar faces. It’s my friends Amber and Joe who are joining me for this 51st week of chicken!
Always great to see them and as we settled in to the booth for the evening we realized something. I asked them about the last time we were here because I thought it was when we were doing the sandwich tour.
They weren’t sure, so Amber looked it up on the phone and found out that we’ve already come here on the chicken tour!
We came here in July of 2018 for the seventh week of the chicken tour! We all completely forgot about it! Oh well, this is my blog and my rules, so there’s nothing wrong with making a second stop on this clucked up tour!
Plus, with a name like Birdies, they deserve two posts on this finger-lickin’ chicken tour!
Serving up our beers are the owner of Birdies, Mary Ann and Cheryl who we met on our last visit in 2018! Great to see both of them again!
There’s the bar up in the front of the room and they have Miller Lite and Bud Light for the draft beer selections.
There’s a pool table behind the bar and gaming machines line the far wall.
Robin and Mark were seated at a nearby booth and Robin said she reads the MBIP blog. I always love to hear that and it was wonderful to meet both of them!
Some of the food specials include Taco Tuesdays and a chili dog special on Thursday.
We went there last Wednesday for the all you can eat chicken night at Birdies and that includes all the fixins as well.
Chicken dinner with all the fixins…hmm, that reminds me of one of the few fiction stories I’ve ever written.
You serve yourself on the Wednesday chicken special and there’s homemade cole slaw, potato salad, French fries, beans, rolls and of course, fried chicken!
You can make multiple trips to the buffet line and these are our first plates.
The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy and tasty on the inside! And on Wednesday here at Birdies you can have multiple plates for one price of a meal, what a clucking great deal!
Here’s Amber and Joe showing off their synchronized face-wiping. They are a very talented couple! Let’s give them some applause!
You know the food is good when the owner is eating it at the bar! There’s Mary Ann enjoying the wonderful fried chicken!
Everyone at the bar got together for a group portrait for this blog post.
Birdies is certainly a friendly tavern with delicious food. If you’ve never been, you should definitely check it out!
Chicken Rating
Four Dixie Chickens—Birdies has delicious and tasty homemade fried chicken and on Wednesday’s, it’s all you can eat with all the fixins!
