Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, Edge by Chef Dustin Allen with special guest stars, Kusigh, Heather, Ashley, Beth, Nicole, Shane, DJ juanGoblin, Mae, Bobby, Laura and Chef Dustin Allen.
And now, please welcome all the way from restaurant row in Peoria Heights, this week’s Saturday Night host, Edge by Chef Dustin Allen!
Here we are at Edge by Chef Dustin Allen, on the corner of Prospect and Kelly Avenue. They’ve just unveiled a new menu here, so I thought we’d check that out and then head upstairs later to the 12 Bar Lounge for an after-dinner drink and yacht rock music from DJ juanGoblin!
Let’s go in and start this Saturday night!
Wow, the dining room is packed to the gills, but luckily there’s plenty of seats at the bar, so that’s where I parked myself for tonight’s meal.
There’s Kusigh behind the bar serving up an ice-cold bottle of Pilsner’s Urquell! The evening is off to an excellent start!
There’s the back of the bar with a nice inventory of bottled booze and off to the left is the windows that face the cars zooming by on Prospect Road here in the Heights.
A communal table sits opposite the bar and there’s our friend Heather ringing up a bill at the cash register!
As I mentioned earlier, the place is packed tonight, I guess word has gotten out about the new menu in here!
There’s bottles of wine on the back wall and glasses are also hanging out there waiting to be filled up.
On my way back to the bar I ran into Ashley who owns and runs the restaurant with her husband, Chef Dustin Allen. She said she was busy with the crowd, but I appreciate the fact that she took the time to stop and pose for a photo!
As I sat back at the bar, Kusigh brought over some homemade bread and butter. Usually bread and butter aren’t that big of a deal, but this was so delicious, the butter was creamy, rich and so tasty!
Here’s the star of the evening, my Saturday night dinner!
The new menu has a nice selection of steak dinners and I got the Angus New York Strip Steak with a side order of Baked Mac n’ Cheese. It looks and smells absolutely delightful! Let’s dig in!
This is not your typical Mac n’ Cheese by a long shot! It’s Orecchiette pasta swimming in a rich and creamy melted cheddar cheese sauce with chunks of bacon and topped with crispy bread crumbs.
This could really be a tasty meal in itself!
The Angus New York Strip Steak looks amazing! It’s got a nice crust and I ordered it with their house made Edge 4500 Steak Sauce.
I dipped a chunk in the sauce and it was an absolutely delightful steak. It was cooked to perfection and the steak was seasoned perfectly and it was so tender and juicy! This was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had and there’s other steak selections on the new menu at Edge.
I’m definitely coming back to try the other cuts! Check out the new menu here.
After dinner, I went to the back of the building, took the elevator up to the 3rd floor and walked into the 12 Bar Lounge.
As you can see, it’s crowded up here too! I saw a familiar face at the bar and it was Beth showing off her index finger.
For those of you keeping score, I’m officially stalking Beth, she was also featured in the last Saturday Night feature from Troy Ummels Connected restaurant.
Beth was there with her friend Nicole and we all posed for a fuzzy wuzzy selfie. Hooray!
It was so crowded up here, Ashley came up to give Mixologist Shane a hand in serving up the drinks!
The reason for the crowd up here tonight is the guest DJ, juanGoblin who was spinning Yacht Rock tunes for the crowd.
There he is behind his signature turntables and lava lamp. He’s joined in the bottom photo by his trusty roadie, Mae!
Look who snuck out of the kitchen, it’s Chef Dustin Allen posing with Mae! I complimented him on the fantastic steak dinner, then I ran into Laura and her friend Bobby! Always great to see Laura and nice to meet Bobby!
And as the evening rolls along, so does the Yacht Rock from DJ juanGoblin!
If you’re looking for a DJ for your next party, wedding or gathering, check out his web page right here: DJ juanGoblin.
The new menu at Edge features a quartet of Primal Cuts steak dinners. I tried out the Angus New York Strip Steak and it was like biting into a slice of heaven! The meat was seasoned to perfection, it was tender and juicy and the house made steak sauce complimented it perfectly.
The Baked Mac n’ Cheese was a decadent delight and a nice rich and creamy partner for the savory and tasty New York Strip Steak! What a fabulous meal!
