Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out, starring this week’s take-out restaurant, Rick’s Crispy Chicken and featuring special guest stars, Rick and Jacob.
Now please welcome this week’s take-out restaurant, Rick’s Crispy Chicken!
Recently, my friend Mary Jo Ghighi told me about a fairly new chicken restaurant in Mossville called, Rick’s Crispy Chicken. She told me that she and her husband, Mort had recently sampled some of their fried chicken and she said it was excellent and she highly recommended it.
So on the basis of that suggestion, we’re taking a mini road trip today to Rick’s Crispy Chicken in Mossville, Illinois! And awaaaay we go!
And through the miracle of the interwebs, here we are!
I followed the crispy chicken sign to the parking lot and check out the welcome on the sign! How did they know we were coming? These people not only fry chicken, they’re psychics too!
They have a drive-through menu and service and there’s also a nice patio area if you want to eat your dinner there.
I phoned my order in and we’ll just mosey on up to the window and pick it up.
There’s the menu up at the window and if you’re having a party or a business lunch or dinner, they cater.
As I approached the window, I met the owner, Rick (on the right) and his son Jacob.
Rick said they’ve been open for just about 17 months and business has been good. That’s great news and I wish them continued success!
Once again, through the magic of these here interwebs, we’re back in the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area.
There’s the bag containing this week’s take-out dinner and before we open that up, let’s start off with an appetizer of a giganzo can fo Bud Light. Cheers!
There’s our Saturday night dinner out of the bag.
I got an order of hot wings, a two piece fried chicken dinner with cole slaw and mac and cheese and an order of corn fritters for dessert. Let’s dig in and start sampling this Saturday night feast!
I started off with the cole slaw. This was crispy, tart and delicious and a wonderful start to this evening’s meal.
Next I dug into the chicken wings. These were spicy, juicy and very delicious. So far this is a tasty Saturday night dinner!
The mac and cheese was a wonderful surprise. I didn’t have high hopes for this, because usually the mac and cheese at chicken restaurants are kind of bland and nothing to rave about.
That’s not the case with Rick’s mac and cheese, this was creamy, rich and satisfying mac and cheese! Now it’s time for the main course…
The two piece fried chicken dinner.
The dinner comes with a homemade biscuit which was fluffy and tasty.
The fried chicken was so good! I got a two piece dinner which was a chicken wing and a breast. The batter is light and perfectly seasoned. When you bite into it, it’s plump, juicy and very flavorful, you can read more about it in the review below, but this was a delicious take-out dinner!
The corn fritters were the perfect dessert for one delicious Saturday Night meal!
Thanks for the great suggestion, Mary Jo and tell your husband, Mort to get to work and quit fucking around!
I had a five course dinner from Rick’s Crispy Chicken and it definitely was worth the fifteen minute trip to Mossville!
I got an order of their spicy chicken wings, a two piece fried chicken dinner with sides of cole slaw and mac and cheese and a dessert of conr fritters.
The sides were tasty and the cole slaw was just the way I like it, crispy, tart and not too creamy. The mac and cheese was a tasty delight! The cheese was rich and creamy and it was delicious!
The fried chicken was out of this world good! It’s lightly battered and seasoned nicely. The chicken is crisp on the outside and juicy and tasty on the inside.
The homemade corn fritters were the cherry on this fabulous meal from Rick’s Crispy Chicken in Mossville. You should definitely check it out!
