I always enjoyed stopping in at the Hungry Moose diner on Farmington Road. Check out these two posts: A Year In The Life of a Sandwich and Twenty Tenderloins.
Last year they moved from Farmington Road to the location on Sterling that used to house Bogie’s Bar and Grill. The big news for me was that they now had a bar area in the restaurant called The Drunken Moose Lounge and they also featured live music on weekends. Plus they’ve got a choice of a half a dozen cheeseburgers on the menu, so I decided to go back to my roots and have an old-fashioned Saturday Night Cheeseburger at the new location of The Hungry Moose!
Let’s go back in time when Corona was just a beer and you had no worries if someone next to you sneezed and spotlight this week’s Sandwich of Peoria!
Here we are at the new Hungry Moose location on Sterling Avenue. They still have breakfast all day and now they feature beer, wine, spirits and live music!
Check out the bar in the Drunken Moose Lounge, very impressive!
I snagged a seat and settled right in!
Blaire, the pretty bartender no duty delivered me a bottle of Bud Light, with a Home Shopping Network pose! Nice!
This is Kelly and Chad who are the owners of this fine establishment. They said business was great in the new location.
Goodnight Gracie was the featured band that evening and they sounded great. They play diverse covers and some original tunes too.
You can see more photos on their facecrack page and at Peoria Music Live.
Meanwhile, back at the bar, it looks like it’s just abut cheeseburger o’clock!
And whoomp, there it is! I got the stuffed bacon and cheddar burger with a side of their signature onion straws.
I sampled the onion straws and they were a tasty treat to start this cheeseburger meal off!
Now, let’s spotlight the main course, this week’s Sandwich of Peoria: The stuffed bacon and cheddar burger from The Hungry Moose!
This was one delightful cheeseburger!
The burger was huge, tasty and juicy and topped with melted cheddar, fresh onions and a handful of the onion straws. The cheeesburger was stuffed with bacon and the toasted sesame bun was bakery fresh.
Every meal I’ve ever had at The Hungry Moose has been delightful and this was no exception to that rule!
They have a half a dozen burgers on the menu and I need to get back and sample some of the others!
