Abbey Road was the last album The Beatles recorded. They hadn’t worked well with their producer George Martin for their previous record, Let It Be and weren’t happy with the results. They all kind of knew this would be their last album together and wanted to go out on a good note (pun intended), so they brought George Martin back and recorded one of their best albums.
In a few weeks it’ll be the 51st anniversary since it was released, so in honor of that I have six online articles about The Beatles last recorded album and one video documentary.
And of course, there’s the MBIP Coming Attractions for what’s happening on the blog next week
Abbey Road: The Beatles Bible - All the facts, credits and songs, plus quotes from George Martin, George Harrison and Paul McCartney.
The Story Behind Every Song On The Beatles’ ‘Abbey Road’ - Interesting stories about every song and video links to the tunes.
‘Abbey Road’ Album Cover: Behind The Beatles’ Most Famous Photograph - I found it interesting that they only took six photos, especially since it was pre-digital and you couldn’t look at them right away.
The Beatles: For 15 Minutes, Tremendous (Original NY Times review from 1969) - This NY Times review from 1969 is one of the most passive-aggressive reviews I’ve ever read. And kind of funny in hindsight.
When The Beatles Walked Offstage: Fifty Years Of “Abbey Road” - This is a great, lengthy feature on the album from the New Yorker.
20 Interesting facts about The Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover you probably didn’t know… - Lots of interesting factoids here, plus they feature all six of the photos that were taken for the cover.
The Surprising Story of Abbey Road’s Side 2 Medley - There’s lots of cool tribute and factoids in this mini documentary about the medley from Abbey Road. I love it at the beginning where John Lennon calls it, “junk.” Ha ha ha!
Monday: I got my final 2020 take-out meal from Lou’s Drive-In last night and it will be featured tomorrow. They’re still open today, so if you want one last Lou’s fix, you better get over there!
Tuesday: Social Distant Sunday will feature me cleaning my bathroom and a few photos of my Sunday dinner.
Wednesday: For this week’s Shopping Locally episode, I went to Castle’s Patio Inn and purchased a tub of their cheese. The bar and restaurant aren’t open yet, but Barb Castle opens up on Wednesday and Friday to sell their homemade cheese.
Thursday: We’ll feature another Thursday Minute Marty Meal and this one will be Spam-free!
Friday: We’re going to finish up the Slider menu at Arby’s as I continue to eat the entire menu there!
