Live from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, The Broadway Deli & Lounge and starring Yvonne Greer and Greg Batton in a production of “Love Letters.”
We’re also featuring MBIP Superfan, Jody, Christina, Andrew and David.
And now, please welcome this week’s host all the way from beautiful downtown Peoria, The Broadway Deli & Lounge!
Here we are at the Broadway Deli & Lounge located in the Maxam Building in downtown Peoria and as I was taking the final photo here, someone yelled out, “I knew you’d be taking photos outside of here.”
I turned around and met…
Christina and Jody and it turns out that Jody is a superfan of the MBIP blog and I was humbled and flattered to hear of this!
I’m always happy to meet fans of the blog and she’s really into the MBIP blog, so thanks for reading and being a fan, Jody! That means more to me than you know!
Okay, we’re heading into the Maxam Building into the Broadway Lounge and as we enter, there’s the owner of this fine establishment, Andrew who will escort us to our table for the evening.
Great to see him again!
Here’s our table and our server is David, a friendly fellow who took my drink order.
They had a nice program for the show and check out the upcoming shows next week: Terry Grawey is here next Friday and Phenomenal Phil Raso has a show next Saturday. You should definitely check out both of these unique shows!
I saw them both last summer here at The Broadway Lounge and you can check that post out by clicking here.
I love the fully-stocked wooden bar in here!
Here’s the discreet gaming area in the back of the front room for all of you gambler’s out there!
Let’s take the red carpet stairs upstairs and we’ll get a shot of the dining room from up here.
I also got a photo of the impressive tin ceiling up here, I love this!
They have a cool lounge area up here and you can eat and relax while having lunch and dinner here throughout the week.
As I made my way back to my way to my table, I ran into Joe, The Art Guy and his wife, Cathy. Great to see them and it brought back memories of this post.
And as I made my way back to my table, they announced that the buffet was open, so let’s go get our Saturday night dinner!
There’s people lining up for the buffet.
The diner was delicious, I chose a salad, and a main course of a dinner roll, chicken in a creamy wine sauce and mushrooms, Kahlua pulled-pork and a sweet dessert of chocolate sheet cake with whipped cream.
What a tasty dinner!
After dinner, Andrew snuck me back to Greg and Yvonne’s dressing room for a before the show photo.
I hadn’t seen either one of them since before the pandemic and it was fun to catch up and talk to them before the show had begun!
They were both excited about the performance and were happy to have sold out the venue two nights in a row for the show!
On my way back to my table, I posed for a photo with the MBIP Superfan, Jody. I’m really happy with her enthusiasm for the blog and I want to thank her for that right here and now!
Thanks for your enthusiasm, Jody, it meant a lot to me and it was great to meet and chat with you!
Okay, the house lights are down and the spotlight is on the stage. I think it’s…

Time For “Love Letters” Starring Yvonne Greer and Greg Batton!
The show was a two act play.
I’ve seen so many plays in my life. I lived in New York City for 19 years and saw shows on Broadway along with off Broadway shows and off, off Broadway shows where the people on stage were more populated than than the audience that came to see the show. So I”ve seen a lot of stage productions and trust me when I tell you that this was one unforgettable play!
Greg and Yvonne sold out both Friday and Saturday’s show and their performance was nothing short of remarkable!
The play consists of the two of them reading letters to each other through decades of their lives and it spotlights the friendship that has developed through the years of this correspondence.
This is such a unique concept for a play and it’s one that very few could pull off.
The key here is dialogue as it’s just the two of them reading letters to each other.
The concept on paper sounds boring, but both Greg and Yvonne have a background in broadcasting and they had the crowd in the palm of their hands the whole performance!
This is a show that is an emotional roller-coaster and Greg and Yvonne had all of us entertained with each letter that they read.
This was one of the most unique shows I’ve ever seen and Greg and Yvonne did such a spectacular performance!
This show demands vocal nuance, subtle delivery and upbeat and lively vocal deliverance throughout the entire show.
This show is all about dialogue and delivery and Greg and Yvonne brought it and the audience was spellbound!
There’s a twist at the end and this was a wonderful and emotionally-driven show!
Cheers to Greg and Yvonne, this show was better than I ever could’ve imagined! It was so entertaining, unique and fun! They hit it out of the ballpark and the myself and everyone in attendance truly enjoyed this wonderful performance by Greg and Yvonne!
After the show, Yvonne and Greg talked to fans from the audience and it was great to see both of them!
I hope they have an encore of this sold-out show again soon!
Thanks to the Broadway Deli & Lounge for hosting such a fun event!
