Well, we’re up to week number two as we eat our way through the Panda Express Chinese Kitchen Menu.
Last week we blew through the Appetizers menu and now we begin munching our way through the Sides menu.
Today we’re going to sample the Chow Mein and the White Steamed Rice side dishes.
To the drive-through we go!
As you can see, it’s still a winter wonderland out here in Peoria, but the good news is that there’s no one at the drive-through for the second week in a row.
I ordered and had my food within a couple of minutes. I have to say that so far they live up to the “Express” in their title. They have excellent service and the people working there have been extremely nice!
I love the Panda Express people!
One downside is waiting at this intersection at this Northwoods Mall stoplight. This red light seems to last forever!
It’s been over five minutes now and it’s kind of un-nerving. Fuck this fucking intersection!
The light finally went to green and here we are back at MBIP World Headquarters and Kitchen Tasting Area.
Okay, time for week number two of this Panda tasting adventure to begin!
I got two medium orders and the price was just a little over seven bucks. So far the food here has been very inexpensive.
I mentioned how bland the food was last week and MBIP pal Mike Cramer suggested on facecrack that we get some hot mustard for the food.
I told him that we don’t ask for condiments, but after thinking about it, since it’s condiments from the restaurant, why not utilize them?
So this week I asked for not only hot mustard but soy sauce as well in a Mike Cramerian move.
And here’s what they gave us. Holy shitballs, they really loaded us up with this stuff!
I’ll have more for next week as well!
Okay, here’s the two side entrees for this week. I like the boxes that they’re housed in!
They’re sturdy and kind of fancy.
Here’s a birds-eye-view of the dishes with the lids up and open.
I’m adding and stirring in some of the hot mustard and soy sauce for additional flavor and zing.
And remember, this is their condiments so this is all fair and good.
First Bites
Steamed White Rice: Okay, all of the flavor came from the hot mustard and soy sauce but this was okay. Nothing fantastic and nothing horrible. Just okay.
Chow Mein: This was a little tastier and definitely not horrible at all. Once again, just okay.
Panda Rating (One to four, four the best, one the worst)
Both get two and a half pandas. These were better than last week’s appetizers, mainly due to the hot mustard and soy sauce. Thanks to Mike Cramer for the Panda-terrific condiment suggestion!
I thought I’d start saving the extra hot mustard and soy sauce packets and see what kind of a collection we have at the end of this run. Hey, it’s something to do!
Wow, I got two fortune cookies this week! Let’s take a look at these dueling fortunes.
The first one said: “You will overcome difficult times.” Well, that’s nice to know as we’re still living through difficult times in this rotten pandemic. Hopefully this means better times are ahead.
The second one was a bit of a gyp though. “Your kindness will give others strength.” Yes, I try to be kind to others, but would it kill some of these fuckers I’m being kind to, to slip me five bucks or something? I’m giving you all this strength, but what do I get back? Just this stinking fortune cookie? 他妈的!
