Okay, after last week’s failed gas station lunch episode, I decided that on Wednesday’s we’ll take a trip somewhere and call it “Daytripper” after The Beatles song.
I also eat a frozen pizza every Sunday, so I thought I’d feature that as well. Why not?
And so, here we go on the maiden Daytripper excursion to the Richard Pryor statue in beautiful downtown Peoria!
I thought on these daytripper voyages I’d take some photos from the car on the way to our destination.
Here’s some photos of buildings as we make our way down the Main Street hill that leads to downtown Peoria.
Could someone please cue up Petula Clark? Thank you.
Okay, we’ll take a right turn on Washington Street and before you know it…
We’re here at the Richard Pryor commemorative statue in downtown Peoria that was sculpted by Preston Jackson.
The statement about the statue is on this plaque that’s located in front of the statue.
You can read about the unveiling and see photos from that day by clicking here.
Here’s some different angles of the statue.
The statue was sculpted by local artist Preston Jackson.
There’s benches on either side of the statue to sit and enjoy the view.
Preston did an amazing job with this sculpture.

An historic landmark to a legendary Peorian.
Bravo!

And now, it’s time for…
The MBIP Wednesday Weekly Frozen Pizza Report!
I haven’t had a Tombstone Pizza in years. I’ve always found that name strange. I posted a photo of this on Twitter last Sunday and someone said it’s named after a tavern called the Tombstone Tap.
I still think it’s a weird name. What, was “Dead Grandma Pizza” already trademarked? Sheesh!
Anyway, let’s put this frozen pizza in a 400 degree pre-heated oven and let it cook for 20 minutes.
Alright, it’s all cooke up and now we’ll season it with Tabasco sauce and some ground pepper.
There it is all cut up and ready to be sampled.
The pizza looked really good but biting into it was a little bit of a disappointment.
The crust was kind of soggy, the sauce had an acidic taste to it and the sausage had a weird consistency to it.
It was spongey and while I’ve never eaten a booger, it felt like I was eating boogers on top of this pizza.
Ugh, not a good dining sensation!
Frozen Pizza Rating (0-10): 4.7.
