This Sunday is Easter Sunday so you need to stock up on candy for this sweet holiday. And there’s no place better to do that than stopping in at The Nut House on Main Street sor some sweet treats.
So let’s make like the Easter Bunny and hop on over to this sweet local shop!
Here we are at The Nut House on Main Street, a locally-owned Peoria sweet spot for over 100 years!
I love the Easter decorations in the window and of course since this is The Nut House, they have an Easter Squirrel. That’s pretty gosh-darned nutty!
They’re open, so let’s go inside and see what’s happening.
I love it in here. It always smells heavenly and it brings back childhood candy store memories. This place has such a nice vintage feel to it!
Lisa and Mary were behind the counter and it was great to see both of them.
Mary said that 2020 was a tough year so now that it’s 2021, stop in and get some nuts and fresh candy to help this local business stay in operation.
The store is divided into two sections. The nuts are on one side and candy is on the other side.
Let’s be like Joni Mitchell and take a look at both sides now.
The Nutty Side Of The Store
The nuts are seasoned and roasted up here in the front of the store.
The selection is huge in here with all different kinds behind the counter and up on top and on shelves.
It’s just nuts in here I tell you!
The Sweet Side Of The Street
Even if you’ve bought your Easter candy you can always use a little more and check out the selection of candy in here!
A lot of the candy in here is made fresh in the store and there’s unique sweet treats that you can’t find anywhere else in Peoria.
There’s even more candy in jars on shelves lining the walls.
Sweet!
I love these vintage photos on the wall.
There’s The Nut House back in 1959, two shots of downtown Peoria and The Apollo Theatre, which is located right next door to The Nut House.
As you can see, they take phone orders and you can also place orders online from their website.
Mary told me they ship candy and nuts all over the country to Peorians that have moved away but still need their Nut House fix.
And of course I had to touch the scale for good luck!
I couldn’t leave without getting a sweet treat for myself. I took my purchase back to the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area. I got the Double Dipped Chocolate Malt Balls.
These were my favorite candy store item as a kid and these are definitely a sweet treat!
The Nut House has been a Peoria tradition for over 100 years now, please stop in and help support this local business!
