This is a memorable throwback Saturday post, because it’s the first post on MBIP of going to Agatucci’s on a Saturday night.
Since then I’ve done over a dozen posts on visiting this iconic Peoria Pizzeria, but let’s travel back in time for the very first MBIP Agatucci’s post.
Are you there, Sherman?
Okay Sherman, please set the Saturday Night Wayback Machine for March 11, 2013 and…
Whoomp, here we are at Agatucci’s!
This is Peoria’s oldest pizza parlor and it’s been standing tall on this corner on University Street for over ten decades! Let’s go in and see what’s happening.
There’s two dining rooms in here, but I prefer to sit at the bar when I’m dining alone in here, that way I can hang out with…
Tony and Danny Agatucci!
These guys are the fourth generation of Agatucci owners and two of the nicest guys in Peoria, always great to see them!
Two of my favorite things in here are the vintage Hamm’s Beer sign and the stained glass wine lamps that hover over the booths in the dining room.
Kate saw me taking pictures and came up and told me it was her birthday. Happy birthday Kate!
There’s her name on the Budweiser Birthday board!
Meanwhile, back at the bar…
Our Saturday night cheeseburger is served up!
It was a tasty cheeseburger, but we all know that Agatucci’s is known for…
Their delicious pizza pies! So I got a lovely cheese pizza just for me! It was fabulous and this is my favorite pizza in Peoria!
Here’s Tony with his Dad, Jim. Third and fourth generation owners of Agatucci’s! It’s a family affair!
When the Renaissance Coliseum at Bradley opened up, Jay Leno was brought in to do the opening festivities. Before he flew back to L.A. that night he asked someone where the best pizza was in town, because he wanted a pie for his flight back home and someone told him to go to Agatucci's.
Here's Tony with some photos of Jay's stop at the restaurant.
And of course no trip to Agatucci’s is complete without taking a photo of the backwards Agatucci’s clock!
