The Pour House is a place I haven’t been to in quite a while. In fact I searched the MBIP Archives and the last time I was there was for a post in our Year of Pizza series back in 2014, over seven years ago! That pizza was good and we’ll have to revisit it for the new pizza series I’m doing now.
But for today, we’ll go and eat our lunch there and we have a special guest star, so let’s go and get some lunch!
Here we are at the Pour House on Willow Knolls Drive. Check out the unplanned obligatory mirror shot in the doorway! I love it when that happens!
Okay, let’s go in and start this afternoon luncheon post!
There’s the bar and there’s a dining area opposite of it.
There’s a dining table and dart boards in the back of the bar and off to the side are six gaming machines.
I love the neon in here!
The lit up whiskey bottles on display are very cool!
Here’s the table I chose to sit at and there’s our waitress Nikki delivering menus and an iced tea with a beautiful smile!
It turns out that I’ve met Nikki on another MBIP outing back when she was working at the Hungry Moose on Farmington Road back in 2017. Check that out by clicking here. Great to see her again!
Our special luncheon guest star this week is Phil Raso A.K.A. Phenomenal Phil.
Phil is a magician and mind reader and you can read all about him at his website and facecrack page.
You can see him displaying his mind-reading skills on Good Day Central Illinois from a recent guest segment right here.
Phenomenal Phil’s next live performance is going to be on July 24th at the Broadway Lounge.
Here’s the view of the bar from our table.
Nikki is delivering the first course of our luncheon meal. We decided to split an order of chicken wings for the appetizer.
We got the Teriyaki Parmesan Wings and they were saucy, juicy and very tasty!
There’s Phil enjoying the wings!
Here’s Nikki with the main courses for this week’s MBIP lunch out on the town!
After she delivered the lunches, she took the MBIP Camera and took a photo of the two of us.
Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce: Phenomenal Phil and Mediocre Marty!
Phil got the Grilled Chicken Bacon and Swiss sandwich with their homemade potato chips and I got the Grilled Chicken Dinner Salad.
The food was amazing! Phil loved his sandwich and chips and the Grilled Chicken Dinner Salad had big chunks of juicy grilled chicken, croutons, onions, peppers and cheese. The Vinaigrette dressing is housemade and topped this delicious salad off perfectly.
They have a full menu of fresh and delicious food here and this is definitely a hidden gem for lunch and dinner here on Willow Knolls Drive!
And now it’s time for…
The Same Three Fucking Questions!
I thought I’d start asking my luncheon guests on this series the same three fucking questions at lunch. And so, here we go with Phenomenal Phil’s answers to the same three fucking questions I’ll be asking every time I do this post.
——
Does ketchup belong on hot dogs?
Neither ketchup or catsup should ever be put on a hotdog! The only true way to dress a hotdog is “Chicago style” with mustard, relish, tomatoes, onions, sport peppers, and a pickle. And don’t forget the celery salt. And make sure it’s 100% beef.
Is deep dish pizza really pizza?
Yes. Deep dish pizza is really pizza. My favorite is Lou Malnati’s. They have a buttery crust and I think they use corn oil, too. I’ve tried to make it at home a few times and I think I’ve done a decent reproduction. It’s fun to make for sure. Even better to eat.
Why do fools fall in love?
Fools fall in love because the intelligent were already taken.
Thanks, Phil you are truly Phenomenal and thanks for joining me for lunch!
