Going out to lunch is so nice now that I’m retired! No more looking at the clock and thinking, “Shit, I’ve got to get going, I only have an hour of free time till I have to go to work!”
Now I can have a long and leisurely lunch and maybe a nap afterwards!
Let’s head out to this week’s lunch in West Peoria!
Here we are at the West Town Tap for this week’s leisurely lunch. I’m meeting a friend and special guest star here and you’ll meet her soon. Let’s head on in and let the lunching begin!
It’s after 1pm, so most of the luncheon crowd has come and gone. There’s plenty of seats at the bar, so let’s go snag one.
Donna was tending bar this afternoon and she served me up a nice tall iced tea with a pretty smile!
While we wait for the special guest star to arrive, let’s take a look around in here.
There’s special tables opposite the bar emblazoned with the Jameson logo.
In the back of the bar they have gaming machines for all of you gamblers out there.
I love the corrugated metal side wall in the back room here and this Mohammad Ali poster takes me back to when my family lived in Louisville, Kentucky.
We’d see Mohammad back in the day when he was known as Cassius Clay and when we’d see him at the mall and say, “Hi, Champ,” he’d always smile and wave. He was always a really nice guy.
As I looked out of the window, I saw my friend and special guest star pulling in to the lot here…
Here she is, Michelle, looking fabulous as always!
It’s always great to see her and catch up on things. This is the bar we first met at, back when it was Champ’s West.
We both perused the menu and made our luncheon orders.
The West Town Tap is unique in the fact that it has a full breakfast menu every day until 2pm, plus it serves the legendary Butlers Chicken, Gizzards, Catfish and Walleye.
Michelle introduced me to her friend Katey who was getting a lunch order to go. I love her Who t-shirt!
These are two pretty and interesting women I had the pleasure of taking the picture of and hanging out with for the afternoon! Lucky me!
There’s the dining room with comfortable booths in the back of the room.
The daily specials are listed on this board here.
Meanwhile, back at our side of the bar…
Our lunch is being served up by Donna.
Michelle got the West Town Nachos and as you can see, they are fully loaded!
I got the Ham and Cheese Sandwich…
It comes with house-made BBQ potato pub chips and the sandwich was so delicious!
It has strips of ham that were pan-fried in butter along with rich melted cheese housed in a bakery fresh buttered and toasted roll.
This was the best ham and cheese sandwich that I’ve ever had! It was oh so delicious and tasty!
Donna took a parting shot of Michelle and I after our lunch.
Thanks to Michelle and Katey for joining me for lunch, it was a wonderful time at the West Town Tap!
