Christmas Dinner From Yen Ching

by MBIP

Our family had our Christmas celebration on Christmas Eve. My niece, Caylin and her husband Patrick had all of us over to their house for a fun and festive lunch and family get-together.

So yesterday, I thought I’d go to the store and get something and cook up a Christmas dinner. I guess I’ve never tried to go to the grocery store on Christmas because I soon discovered they were all closed!

I bitched about this on Twitter and my friend, Lisa sent me this Tweet:

Three simple words: “Get Chinese food.”

That was wonderful advice and soon I was ordering up a Chinese Christmas feast.

Let’s go pick it up!

I called one of my favorite Peoria Chinese restaurants, Yen Ching and ordered up my Christmas Chinese dinner.

Yen Ching is one of Peoria’s oldest Chinese restaurants and I’ve been eating Chinese food here since the ‘70s.

Let’s go in and pick up our festive Chinese dinner!

Wow, lots of other people had this same idea!

Let’s get in line to pick up our Chinese Christmas dinner!

There was a decent crowd in the dining room as well. Maybe next year we’ll dine in at the restaurant!

Okay, we’re getting closer!

Next stop,..

Back at MBIP World Headquarters!

There’s our Chinese Christmas dinner and I uncorked a Bud Light tallboy to start it all off.

Cheers!

First Course: Crab Rangoon

We’re having a three course dinner and the first course is an appetizer order of Crab Rangoon.

They look delicious!

I put some hot Chinese mustard on them and then dipped one into the sweet and sour dipping sauce.

It was crispy on the outside and filled with warm and rich cream cheese on the inside. This was such a satisfying first course to a wonderful Christmas dinner!

——

Second Course

For the second course, I got another appetizer order of the Bar-B-Q Spare Ribs.

These were succulent ribs baked in a savory sauce that had an underlying sweetness to it.

So tangy and delicious!

Third Course

For the third course I got a Crispy Duck main course.

This looks and smells simply amazing!

I added some of the hot Chinese mustard to the marinated deep-fried duck and it was such a taste-sensation!

The outside skin was crispy and it was so juicy and tasty on the inside!

This was a perfect Christmas dinner and thanks to Lisa for the wonderful holiday suggestion!

This was a strange fortune cookie…I think it was left over from that foul year of 2020!

Merry Christmas everyone!
