Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, the Broadway Deli & Lounge and Greg Batton performing his one-man show, “My Life. In Boxes.”
Now please welcome from beautiful downtown Peoria, the Broadway Deli & Lounge!
Here we are at the Broadway Deli & Lounge which is located in the spacious Maxam Building on Water Street in downtown Peoria.
We’ll head on in and there’s the entrance to Broadway Deli & Lounge straight ahead.
Once I was inside, owner Andrew Driscoll greeted me and led me to my dinner table.
I was seated with Peg and Donna and it turns out that Peg is Greg’s cousin, so we both told some Greg Batton stories and they were fun dinner table mates!
Right behind the dining room is this long and well-stocked bar for all of your drinking needs!
There’s Broadway signs and art on the walls that’s fun to look at.
Opposite the bar is a private gaming area for all of you gambler’s out there!
There’s more seating upstairs along with a lounge area equipped with Broadway-themed books and a vintage piano.
I took a shot from up here and as you can see, Greg sold the place out!
While I was up here, I snuck back to the dressing room and said hi to the star of the show, Greg Batton!
Greg said he was excited to be doing the show and was happy for the crowd that showed up to see this one man show of someone’s life in boxes!
On my way back to the dinner table I ran into Greg’s beautiful wife, Yvonne Greer.
Like Greg, Yvonne is a broadcaster and she’s also a personal trainer and the owner of Yvonne Greer’s Power Zone.
Great to see her smiling face!
As I sat back down at the dinner table, our pretty waitress Courtney just showed up with our Saturday night dinner.
Perfect timing!
They have a wonderful menu here for lunch and dinner. I got the BBQ Chicken Bacon Flatbread and it was tasty and delicious!
The sauce was tangy and had an underlying sweetness to it, the cheese was rich and the bacon and BBQ Chicken were the perfect toppings for this Saturday night dinner!
And now, ladies and gentlemen, it’s showtime at the Broadway Deli & Lounge…we now present, Greg Batton starring in “My LIfe. In Boxes.”
There’s the star of the show, Greg Batton doing the introduction for the show.
The evening was very entertaining and it was a unique concept for a show. Greg would spin a wheel, which would land at a table’s number and they would shout out a number for a box for him to open. Inside of the box would be an item that would lead to a story from Greg’s life that he would then entertain the crowd with.
It was a multi-media show with Greg using the contents of the box and also this screen that would have photos highlighting his stories. His daughter Ginger was in charge of the screen and she was also the subject of his first story, so she was pictured on the screen.
I love it when things work out like this!
Greg’s boxed-up stories were very entertaining and they ran an emotional gamut from funny tales to heart-warming family stories and it even hit a couple of sad notes.
This was a fun roller-coaster ride of stories from Greg’s unique and interesting life that he’s led.
The crowd loved the stories and the fun concept of this boxed-up one-man show!
The show’s profits went to The Imani Rescue Center and you can read about this charitable organization that helps out women and children in Kenya at their facebook page and at their website.
After the show, I ran into Cliff and Anne, who I met at Castle’s Patio Inn six years ago. Six years ago? It seems like yesterday and it was great to see them again!
Thanks to Greg Batton for his entertaining show, “My Life. In Boxes.”
And thanks to Andrew, Courtney and everyone at the Broadway Deli & Lounge for a wonderful dinner and a fun night in a unique downtown Peoria destination!
