I happened to see that Friday is the 54th anniversary of the bizarre shooting of Andy Warhol. On June 3rd, 1968, Valerie Solanas calmly walked into Warhol’s art studio, shot him and another man and then just walked away.
She was later arrested and it ended up becoming the subject matter for a full length motion picture.
This started me reading some online articles on Andy Warhol and below are a half a dozen Andy Warhol links including a story by Yours Fooly who had a six degrees of separation Andy Warhol moment in New York City.
And of course there’s the MBIP Coming Attractions for next week’s shenanigans on the blog.

The Day Valerie Solanas Shot Andy Warhol - This is a good story of what happened on the day that Andy Warhol got shot.
Your ultimate guide to Andy Warhol - This is a good “A to Z” guide of Andy Warhol’s life and career.
Andy Warhol - album covers - I remember the Velvet Underground banana album cover and “Sticky Fingers” by The Rolling Stones, but I had no idea that Andy Warhol had been designing album covers since 1949! He started out in jazz and then moved into the world of rock ‘n roll in the ‘60’s.
Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick: A Brief, White-Hot, and Totally Doomed Romance - Edie Sedgwick was Andy Warhol’s ultimate muse, until the relationship drove them both a little crazy, she a little more than him.
An Andy Warhol Travel Guide To New York City - A Warhol walking tour of New York City.
Andy Warhol Statue—10:57PM Union Square - This is a post from my Marty After Dark blog where I took photos of the Andy Warhol statue and then wrote a story about meeting Warhol’s manager and business associate Paul Morrissey. It’s one of my favorite New York stories.
Andy Warhol Eating A Cheeseburger - If you’ve ever wanted to see Andy Warhol eat a Burger King cheeseburger, your moment has arrived!

MBIP Coming Attractions
Monday: Since tomorrow is Memorial Day and it’s a traditional day to eat grilled food, I went to Alwan and Sons Lunch Grill and had a grilled Hot Polish Sausage sandwich with a side of fresh pasta. It was delicious and you can see all the photos tomorrow while you enjoy your Memorial Day holiday!
Tuesday: We’re starting our weekly hot dog eating series called, The Dog Days Of Summer and every week up to Labor Day, I’ll be sampling hot dogs all over Peoria and beyond. I already have a road trip in the works with MBIP Pal and Wheelman, Scott Turley! This week we’re staying local and I got a chili-cheese dog at The Spotted Cow.
Wednesday: I’m continuing to get everything all set here at the new MBIP World Headquarters, Mach IV and this week I decided to dress up the refrigerator. So I went to Urban Artifacts and got some magnets and stickers and you can see the whole process on Wednesday.
Thursday: Ava Kamm, who’s known for her unique dog photography business, Dog Anthology and she’s been featured here on MBIP in the past, recently made news by buying the Peoria Camera Shop. I’m going to visit her there and bring a little surprise with me, but I’m not going to say what it is, she might be reading this! Tune in Thursday to find out!
Friday: We’ll be doing another Please Grill Me cooking segment and I think this week I’m going to make a dry-rub rib sandwich. I’ve never tried to dry rub anything (insert masturbation joke here), so we’ll see how it turns out!
Saturday: We’ll be taking a trip back in time for another Meanwhile, Back In Peoria’s Past episode.
