This coming Tuesday is the birthday of John Belushi, the comedic actor best known for Saturday Night Live, Animal House and The Blues Brothers.
He would’ve been 74-years-old today, but noooo, he had to go and die back in 1982!
So sadly, he’s not around to celebrate his date of birth. But his memory and the laughs he gave us live on, so happy birthday to John Belushi!
Below are six links to online articles about the short and intense life of John Belushi. There’s also a link to the most ironic video of all time down there.
And then, as always, there’s the MBIP Coming Attractions as to what’s happening on the blog next week!
John Belushi - IMDb Biography - There’s tons of information on this biography page. One thing I learned is that they were thinking about casting him as Hunter S. Thompson in the flim, Where The Buffalo Roam. That would’ve been interesting! That part went to Bill Murray and Murray also picked up the role of Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters that Dan Aykyroyd originally wrote for Belushi
The Second City: John Belushi - Belushi started his entertainment career as an improv actor at Chicago’s Second City Theatre.
Saturday Night Live Wiki: John Belushi - He jumped from Second City to the National Lampoon Radio Hour and ended up being one of the original cast members on Saturday Night Live.
How John Belushi Rose From Second City to ‘’SNL’’ to Stardom - Belushi’s rise to stardom and fame are detailed in this feature article.
The Best John Belushi Movies - A list of Bellushi’s movies ranked from best to worst. I’ve never heard of that Tarzan movie!
The tragic legacy of John Belushi: ‘He could have done anything’ - An article where friends and family remember John Belushi and marvel at his talents and tragic ending.
Don’t Look Back in Anger - Saturday Night Live - I think Belushi would’ve seen the humor in this and that he ended up being the first to die, even though he was a dancer!
