Probably everyone in Peoria knows about Jimmy’s Bar. It’s an iconic Peoria Irish bar that’s been standing tall on the same spot in West Peoria on Farmington Road since 1982!
But what a lot of people don’t know is that one of their signature dishes is a corn dog dineer, check it out below!
When I told people I was going to Jimmy’s Bar for my weekly corn dog, the common response was, “Jimmy’s serves corn dogs?”
Not only do theiy serve them, it’s a signature dish with the honored title of the “Mr. Spears Basket.”
Let’s go and start week number eight of our corn dog tour at Jimmy’s Bar!
Here we are at Jimmy’s Bar in West Peoria. All the fall decorations are up and the place is looking fantastic.
Let’s go in and start this week’s corny addition to the eighth week of our corn dog tour!
Jimmy’s is looking wonderful as always. Let’s go up to the bar and place our order for the Mr. Spears Corn Dog Basket!
Greacie was working one end of the bar and Grace was working the far end. Wonderful to see both of their pretty smiling faces and are you thinking what I’m thinking?
“Hail Jimmy’s…full of Grace!”
There’s gaming machines up in front, the classic Jimmy’s clock and I love the neion Draught Guinness sign on the wall over here!
Here’s a shot from the back of the bar.
Now, let’s take a few random shots of some of the pictures plastered all over the walls in here.
It’s always fun looking at all of the different pictures, signed autographs and of course the Jimmy’s official St. Patty’s Day Countdown Clock on the walls in here!
I also love that Saw Doctors framed and autographed poster because I met that band back in the day when I was living in New York City! They’re really nice guys!
Amanda was at the bar working on the weekly “Specials” sign for the wall near the bar. We’ll check back in a little bit to see the final results of this masterpiece!
This hallway leads to the back beer garden, some tables outside and the outside beer patio. Very nice but now let’s go inside, it’s starting to get chilly out here!
Here we are back at our table and it’s just about time to introduce our special Corn Dog Guest Star of the week…
Artie Fowler! Artie has been a guest on the blog many times and the two of us have been friends since we both worked at Fleming Potter a few decades in the past.
He’s looking good and it’s always wonderful to hang out with him and have him as a guest on the blog.
Speaking of special guest stars, here’s the man himself, the owner of Jimmy’s Bar, Jimmy Spears!
It’s always fantasstic to see Jimmy, who’s one of the nicest guys in Peoria! He confirmed the fact that the Mr. Spears Basket is named after his Dad and that Mr. Spears preferred a corn dog to a hot dog!
And speking of The Mr. Spears Corn Dog Basket, here it is in all of its splendid glory and it looks fantastic!
There’s Artie brandishing his corn oog across from me at the table.
Here it is loaded up with a healthy dollop of mustard.
This is a tasty corn dog and I love the fact that it’s a somewhat hidden gem here at Jimmy’s Bar!
And there’s Amanda with her finished artwork for the wall!
Wonderful work, Amanda!
