Tomorrow is the 56th anniversary of the release of The Beatles album, “Magical Mystery Tour” which was the soundtrack to a film they made in 1967 that was originally only seen on TV in England.
The film itself got criticized and wasn’t seen here until it had a theatrical release in movie theaters in 1974. I saw it then and understood the criticism! it was a questionable film at the time, but in retrospect it wasn’t so bad. It was The Beatles, after all! Yeah, yeah…yeah!
To mark this anniversary I have six Magical Mystery Tour links and below that is the weekly MBIP Coming Attractions!
The Story Of The Beatles’ First Misstep, ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ - When the film was first shown, it received a lot of criticism, but as time wore on it gained some respect from people in the film world such as Martin Scorsese who’s quoted in this article.
The Beatles Bible: Magical Mystery Tour - Recording dates, credits and stories about the Magical Mystery Tour album, which was more successful than the film.
The Tragic History of the Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour - This is a great all-inclusive feature about the production, the film, the music and the aftermath of Magical Mystery Tour.
“Paul Is Dead” Clues on Magical Mystery Tour - The movie and album had a lot of clues for the whole, “Paul Is Dead” conspiracy theory.
Song History of “Magical Mystery Tour” - The story behind the writing of the song which included references to The Tibetan Book of the Dead and rolling a joint.
Magical Mystery Tour: The Beatles' Biggest Flop - A story about how the film flopped when the BBC orginally broadcast it and it reveals that Paul McCartney wanted Jimi Hendrix to be part of the movie.
Magical Mystery Tour: Trailer - Here’s the trailer for the DVD that was released in 2012.

MBIP Coming Attractions
Monday: I went to the Third Chance Bar & Lounge for my Saturday Night Dinner and had an amazing BBQ Western Cheeseburger there. Check out tomorrow’s post for photos of my dinner last night!
Tuesday: We’re continuing the MBIP Corn Dog Tour with yet another corn dog from the Dog Haus Biergarten Peoria. This is our third stop here on the tour and there will be about four more as we sample every corn dog on their menu.
Wednesday: We’re counting down the days to Christmas with our Eight Shops of Xmas posts and the fourth shop we visit is one of my favorite shops in Peoria, Urban Artifacts!
