I’ve decided to change the name of the book. I was originally going to call it, “Travelings With Marty” and the subtitle of “Writing Memories From America’s Most Unlikely Writer.”
It was a play on the John Steinbeck travelogue, “Travels with Charley: In Search of America.”
I thought people might be confused by the original title and think it was more of a travelogue than a book about my writing and the journey it took me on.
As I’ve been writing, I realized that two key moments in my writing career happened out of spiteful moments aimed at two different editors. And so the title: “Confessions of a Spiteful Writer” was born! The new subtitle is: “True-life tales and memories from America’s most unlikely writer.”
I like this title a lot and I’ll tell the spiteful moments in future Month Of The Book Club posts. For now, I need to go and try and finish chapter two!

What I Thought About This Book
I thought the book was okay, but it was a little rambling and I didn’t think it was really that funny. I found it somewhat monotonous and while it was readable, I don’t recommend it.
I had never seen her stand-up comedy and watched some videos on YouTube after I got the book and didn’t quite like that either. However humor is different for everyone, just like music.
If you are a fan of her comedy, you might like the book. I didn’t, but that’s just my humble opinion! Onwards to the next title!
