Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, The Queen of Squash and featuring special guest stars, Kayleigh, Trinity and Heather.
Now, please welcome this week’s Saturday Night host, The Queen Of Squash!
A new restaurant called, The Queen of Squash recently opened up and it’s close enough to where I live that I can walk there.
I had a beer at home and then thought I’d do something I haven’t done since I lived in New York City. I made a “walking beer” to take along for the walk to The Queen of Squash!
This is simple to do, you just transfer the beer to a non-beer container and no one knows that you’re walking and drinking!
The funny thing that happened was I saw this cop graffiti and looked to the road and a police car was driving past me. Little did they know I was breaking the law right in front of their eyes!
Breakin’ the law…breakin’ the law. Heh heh…that was cool!
The beer is just about done as we arrive at The Queen of Squash, perfect timing!
This place was originally Stan’s Wines and Spirits.
They have a nice outside dining area but we’ve walked all the way here, so I’ve kind of had it with the great outdoors.
Let’s go and dine inside!
Wow, it’s nice in here. plenty of tables in the dining room and look at the back of the room, there’s a bar!
Since I’m dining alone tonight, that’s the perfect place for me and there’s some empty seats at the end of it. Let’s get settled in for the evening!
Kaleigh was the friendly bartender on duty and she served me up one of their specialty cocktail drinks.
I got the Queen Aragon’s Tequila Sunrise which is Grapefruit Hibiscus Tequila, Pomegranate, Pineapple and Sprite and it is a delicious drink!
I also checked out the menu and placed my dinner order.
They have live music here on Saturday nights and tonight Chris Hawkins was entertaining everyone.
He plays classic and soft rock and the music was a nice part of the evening.
Off in the corner is the Bougie Room which is a nice lounge room to relax in.
I love these lit up signs on the wall.
Meanwhile, back at the bar…
Dinner is being served!
I started off with a bowl of their homemade Reduced Fat Kettle Potato Chips.
If I didn’t know they were reduced fat, I never would have guessed it. They were crunchy and delicious and guilt-free potato chips. Dinner is off to a great start here!
For my main course, I was hoping to get one of their specialty flatbreads, but they had a big run earlier on and they were all sold out.
I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Rissoles and they looked very tantalizing and delicious!
These were so flavorful and had a wonderful texture to them. They had a vegetable mixture inside and the Buffalo and Blue Cheese sauces to them to an incredible flavor level.
This was a fantastic main course and a unique dish you won’t find anywhere else in town!
Trinity is the Head Chef here and she came out to see how I enjoyed my meal, which was a nice touch.
As we talked, I found out that Trinity is just 17-years-old and is going to Richwoods High School. You’ve heard of a child prodigy, well Trinity is a chef prodigy!
She’s won culinary contests and is quite the talented chef for her age!
Keep your eyes on Trinity, I have a feeling she’ll end up with her own show on the Food Channel some day!
And as I was finishing up my meal, I met The Queen herself, the owner of The Queen of Squash, Heather Wolbeck.
Heather said that it’s been going great here and people have enjoyed the unique and original offerings on the menu.
The Queen of Squash is a wonderful addition to Peoria and offers a nice and different dining experience for our city.
Everyone should come and check out this new restaurant in the Metro Centre!
