My cousins, Danny and Patty came in to town last weekend and they always take time to stop by and we have a nice visit and catch up with what’s happening in our lives. I really appreciate them taking time to do that and of course I always document their visits on the blog.

And now we take you back to last week, which is also in the past, but seven days ago it was the present. Trust me on this!
There they are, my cousins Danny and Patty! They came over to the MBIP World Headquarters and we had a nice visit there.
Then it was off to lunch!
Mike’s Tavern looms large in our family’s history. Our Grandpa, Leo Seitz was a fixture in this bar for decades and I had heard about Mike’s Tavern my whole life!
A lot of you were following my 365 Bars Blog back in 2010 and Mike’s Tavern was the place I ended that legendary blog at.
Three years ago new owners took the place over and they’ve cleaned it up and brought in some cool new items, but they left enough of the old to retain the original Mike’s Tavern feel and spirit.
They also have an outstanding menu and food now, so we made this our luncheon destination! Let’s go in and let it begin!
Speaking of the new owners, here’s Mike’s Tavern owner, Mark Donahue. Mark owns and operates Mike’s along with Bob Bullock and while it was great to see Mark, he had some bad news: Mike’s kitchen was closed for the day.
Remember I told you this was last week and if you remember the heat index was up to about 189 degrees! A lot of kitchens were closed that day and sadly, Mike’s was one of them.
So we had to improvise and move on down the road. Click here to see more photos of Mike’s Tavern from a Saturday night visit from about a year ago.
We moved a couple blocks over to the West Town Tap and there’s Danny and Patty leading the way in, while I continue to take photos with the MBIP Camera!
They have a nice bar in here, but since there’s three of us, we grabbed a table in the dining room off to the side of the bar.
Donna was our pretty and friendly waitress who brought our drinks and took our luncheon order. She’s waited on me before and it’s always great to see her and take her photo!
Comfortable booths line the far wall of the dining room and there’s the daily specials on the board on the wall.
Here’s a couple shots of different angles of the bar.
There’s an electronic bags game in the front corner of the bar area and tables are located directly opposite of the bar.
If you’re a gambler, there’s a whole wall of gaming machines in the back of the bar area.
Meanwhile, back at our table, lunch is served!
Danny and Patty each sampled the tenderloin sandwich and said they were delicious tenderloins.
I like the size of them here, they’re big, but not crazy huge like some places around town.
I got the Ribeye sandwich with onions and it was a tender and succulent taste treat! The food and service are always fabulous here at West Town Tap!
Thanks to Danny and Patty for taking the time to have lunch and visit with me, always fun to hang out with them on their yearly trek back to P-Town!
