I know today is the first day of September, but I almost forgot to do the August cookie of the month in this 13 month tour. I started this series last February and did a post in March and then promptly forgot to do one in April and May.
I picked things back up in June and July, but I got busy in August and almost forgot about August! Luckily I remembered yesterday and went out and got a cookie, so even though today is September 1st, technically this is still the August cookie.
And yeah, my OCD is going off the charts, so let’s just go get this stupid cookie already!
Here we are at Ardor Breads and Provisions on Water Street in beautiful downtown Peoria.
Let’s go in and get our monthly cookie, which we just almost forgot about! Okay, I really need to let this go! Serenity now!
I went up to the front counter where the pastries used to be and was told to go through that door and down to the end of the dining room.
I completely forgot they were adding on in here! Let’s go in and take a look!
Wow, check out the new dining room they’ve installed! I love the decor and the wooden floor in here. Nice!
There’s the kitchen opposite the dining area. Very impressive!
Here we go, it’s the pastry case! But as I looked I didn’t see any cookies, but then…
I spied these hiding behind some other delicious looking pastry.
This is a Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Rye Cookie. That sounds intriguing and delicious. We’re lucky, because there’s only two of them left!
Ella was working behind the counter looking just as pretty as the pastries on display and she took one of the cookies out to show it to us.
It looks stupendous, Houston, we have our August cookie!
Ella bagged the cookie for us while flashing a beautiful smile and next thing you know…
We’re back at the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area!
I thought we’d warm up this sweet and flavorful disc in the microwave!
Oh my god! This is an unbelievable cookie!
The cookie has a sweet dark chocolate filling, the rye dough is crispy outside and soft and flaky inside and there’s just a dash of sea salt on top to add a little savory to the sweet.
Wow, this is a fabulous cookie and I highly recommend this sweet treat from Ardor Breads and Provisions!
