Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night, starring this week’s host, Bollywood Bites Bistro & Events Center and featuring special guest stars, Phillip, Irfan and Shagufta!
Now please welcome, from Washington Street in beautiful downtown Peoria, this week’s Saturday Night host, Bollywood Bites Bistro & Events Center!
Here we are at Peoria’s newest Indian restaurant, Bollywood Bites Bistro & Events Center on Washington Street in the Maxam Building. It looks like a very nice place!
I was going to go in this door, but there’s a sign saying to enter in the front of the Maxam building, so that’s what we shall do!
You enter in the front doors of the Maxam Building, head down this hallway and whoomp…there it is, Bollywood Bites Bistro & Events Center!
I waited at the podium in the front and within seconds, Phillip, who is one of the friendly waitstaff on duty, came along and seated me at this table.
After a quick perusal of their large menu, I placed my Saturday night dinner order. Phillip told me to feel free to take some photos and so that’s exactly what we’re going to do!
These small stairs lead into the main dining room and it’s looking fabulous in here!
I love the wooden posts and the brick walls. The highly polished wooden floor is also a nice touch. The room has a nice elegant yet urban feel all at the same time. Not an easy feat to pull off, but they’ve done it!
There’s a front hallway over here decked out with a Bollywood red carpet and Bollywood movie posters above it on the brick wall. Very cool!
There’s more red carpeting on these stairs that lead up to the second floor. Let’s take a look up there.
There’s a lot of space up here, but they haven’t done anything up here yet. I have a feeling that something will happen up here, we’ll check it out on our next trip here.
However, there is a nice over head view of the dining room to get some nice photos!
I love the elegant red curtain in the large window that looks out over Washington Street in downtown Peoria!
Meanwhile, back at my table…
This week’s Saturday night dinner has begun!
I started off with an appetizer order of the Lootera Chicken Lollipops. These are mini chicken drumsticks, deep-fried and seasoned and topped off with a tasty sauce.
These were so good and had such an original flavor. They had a subtle spice that snuck up on you after a couple of bites. What a tasty start to our dinner!
While our main dish was being prepared, Phillip brought me a complimentary appetizer on the house. What a nice surprise!
This is called Circuit Chicken 65. It’s bite size chicken pieces that were marinated in yogurt and a spicy, tangy seasoning.
These are a real taste treat! Crispy on the outside and so tender and juicy on the outside. They’re tasty bites with a nice zippy flavor to them!
I’ve just been presented with a large plate and that means that tonight’s main course can’t be far behind!
And right on cue here is the main course for the evening!
I got an order of the Chhapaak Chicken Noodles. This was from the Indo-Chinese section on the menu which fuses Indian and Chinese flavors in one dish.
I also got an order of the Chennai Express Cheese Naan Indian bread, because you have to have an order of naan bread when you’re eating Indian food. It’s just the rules!
I’ve made a plate and it looks absolutely fabulous, let’s dig in!
Wow, this dinner was out-of-this-world tasty!
I’ve eaten a lot of Indian food in my day, when I lived in New York I ate Indian food at least a couple times a month and I lived there for 19 years!
So trust me when I tell you that this is some of the most delicious Indian food I’ve ever had in my life!
The chicken and noodles dish was filled with a multitude of flavors and textures and it was so tasty and satisfying! All the food here has nice subtle spicy flavors happening and the noodles, chicken and assorted vegetables were an exotic tasting comfort food!
The cheese naan bread was buttery and stuffed with rich, melted cheese. So tasty and it paired perfectly with the chicken and noodles.
What a fabulous dinner, if you haven’t tried this new restaurant yet, you definitely need to check it out! Bollywood Bites is open for lunch and dinner, Tuesday through Saturday.
Give them a try, you’ll be glad you did!
After I finished that delicious dinner I met the owners of this wonderful new restaurant, Irfan and Shagufta.
They’re super-friendly and we had a fun conversation about Peoria and supporting local businesses. They said the reception from Peoria has been wonderful and they’re grateful for all the people that have given Bollywood Bites a try.
It was so nice to meet both of them and you need to try Bollywood Bites out if you haven’t already. They have a Valentine’s Day special coming up and you can read all about that here!
