We’re up to our second week on this MBIP Mac and Cheese tour and this week we’re heading to one of my favorite places in Peoria to sample some cheesy goodness, Kenny’s Westside Pub!
Here we are at Kenny’s Westside Pub in beautiful downtown Peoria!
There’s the front patio, but it’s still a little chilly to sit there, so let’s head on inside and let this cheesy afternoon begin!
Welcome to Kenny’s Westside Pub!
Okay, let’s go find a table and get settled in for the afternoon!
As I look for a table, I think I see someone familiar over there…
It’s none other than Terry Towery who is our special guest today!
Terry’s a good friend and has been on the blog many times.
Many of you know and remember Terry from his days when he wore many hats at the PJ Star including reporter, columnist and editor. After that he was a national and international reporter for the Associated Press News Agency.
He’s now a novelist and he’s currently shopping his latest novel for publication.
Terry’s meeting with several agents in Chicago at the end of this month so stay tuned for updates on the publication date for this forthcoming fiction novel by Terry!
Always great to see him and catch up with him!
Katie and Jaime came over and took our luncheon orders and then posed for a photo. They’re both looking fantastic this afternoon!
Now while our cheesy lunch is being prepared, let’s take some photos in here.
The walls in here are covered with interesting and cool photos and art and here is a small sampling.
I love the classic wooden bar in here. There’s the original Kenny’s Westside Pub sign up at the top of the back of the bar.
Here’s a shot from the very back of the front room at Kenny’s.
Here’s the other side of Kenny’s where the live music happens. It’s too early in the day for live music, but I thought I’d take a few photos anyway.

When I returned to our table our food had magically arrived!
Terry got a grilled cheese and both of us got an order of Kenny’s Mac and Cheese. It looks fantastic!
I started off with an order of Cole Slaw and it was crisp, tasty and a wonderful way to launch this luncheon off.
Now it’s on to the star of the show, Kenny’s Macaroni and Cheese.
It’s looks spectacular, let’s dig in!
There’s Terry enjoying the cheesy dish and he gave it an enthusiastic thumbs up. He said it was probably the best mac and cheese he’s ever had!
Wow, this mac and cheese is fabulous!
The macaroni is cooked to perfection and the cheese sauce is rich, velvety and spectacular!
The dish is prepared with corned beef and bacon and they add a smoky and savory flavor which is a nice balance to the rich cheese sauce.
My only complaint is that it’s only available as a side dish and it’s gone too soon! I wish they’d make a larger entree portion so it would last longer!
If you’ve never had the Kenny’s Westside Pub Macaroni and Cheese, you need to stop by and sample this cheesy treat!
This Sunday is St. Patrick’s Day and it’s also Kenny’s Westside Pub’s 11th anniversary!
They open the doors at 10am with live music, food and fun all day and all of the night!

All of the food at Kenny’s Westside Pub is magnificent and the Macaroni and Cheese is no exception.
The macaroni swims in a rich and velvety cheese sauce and there’s smoky and savory chunks of bacon and corned beef which gives the dish a tasty and delicious balance.
